I looked into the Halloween wiki (because of course there’s one) and apparently there’s 3 established timelines all diverging from Halloween 2? Then you have the remake timeline and this new one I guess is making itself the primary and also 5th timeline. I still think Puppet Master’s timeline is worse, though.

Something I think a lot about is that Donald Pleasance mispronounces Samhain in Halloween 2, yet it's pronounced correctly in Halloween 3 (and the villain even goes on a little rant about it), as if it were written in response.

The new movie jettisons 2 as well and Timeline 3 is officially the only timeline; Danielle Harris asked about a cameo and got shot down at once. Zombie's two movies are entirely their own thing and have nothing to do with Halloween proper.
