Whenever I see people presenting ussourced but totes legit insider rumors about upcoming Star Wars movies as absolute fact I remember this part of The Secret History of Star Wars and have a sensible chuckle.

I mean, we're only a few years removed from that totally confirmed production leak about how The Force Awakens started with Darth Vader's glove falling to a planet from orbit and being a major plot point in the film, people are gullible as poo poo.

I hope that Ep. IX starts with Kylo Ren presiding over a Mofference on the Moffship explaining his plan to marry a robot double of Rey then it backfires when she shoots him with her eye lasers.

This a cool article about a guy who made up spoilers during the prequels and got a huge following.

Except that wasn't merely a rumor. The rumor was Luke's hand and saber and was reshot late in development.

I've rarely seen a new creative team/owner miss the point so hard as with Disney Star Wars. Out of four movies only one (Rogue One) understood the setting and it's themes beyond the most literal visual references. They'll probably recast Leia. It's that or leave her character at where she is after TLJ, which is a pretty sad state for her (entire galaxy is on fire, no one cares to answer her personal distress call). She was obviously supposed to do something with Kylo Ren in Episode 9, and now it's just gone. Saying she died in a timeskip or something is too on the nose and having her absent entirely means they're just kicking that can down the road.

The chances of the character being recast are definitely above 0% but probably below 100%.

The movie will be another flop either way, of course.

rey 'paying' something for being so ridiculously strong would be a good way to end the trilogy. A distance from regular mortals and a bond to kylo ren has already sort of been set up.

She is too flat to be dark, but would make sense that she could want to start fixing the galaxy herself a la anakin skywalker.

Yeah, people are giving those rumors way too much credence. In the Reddit post, he linked to his "leak" of TLJ as a way of showing he's the real deal. But there he got about as much wrong as he got right. He predicted Snoke would die, Luke would train Rey but not want to fight himself, and that Rey would leave and fight Kylo again. Which is mostly basic stuff you could guess if you're lucky. But he also "leaked" that we'd find out that Kylo spared Rey during the Temple Purge and left her on Jakku as a child, and that Phasma put a bounty on Finn's head and that he and Poe would spend most of the movie running from Bounty Hunters. If he really is seeing early storyboards, and that's a big if, then movies can change dramatically after storyboards, and this leak has no meaning because it may have no bearing on the final film.

Snoke getting killed would be the one difficult thing to guess, I'll admit. But, like tadashi said, there were tons of people making "leak" posts that turned out to not be true, and he probably got lucky with that one.

And no, I'm saying that the Reylo baby stuff probably isn't true.

Going to great expense to cobble together a CGI homunculus of a dead actor so they can reprise a role is the opposite of recasting them.

They're not gonna recast Leia.

The worst I can imagine is if they do a CGI recreation thing with her for like, a scene. I doubt they'll do that. She'll either be announced dead in the opening scroll, or there'll be some mention of her dying between movies.

I'm hearing this a lot and yeah, I don't get why the dice are suddenly important.

Was there ever any old EU thing where they have some super important significance or something?

You could say they gambled and lost by rolling so much footage of them in the new movies.
