Does Dear Rouge have a terrible tour manager, Clam Down? I checked the venue they are supposed to be playing at in Windsor in October and its not really a venue, just a bar with amps on the floor and super small. They also canceled here a few years back because there was virtually no promotion for it. Really frustrating.

Jungle has been releasing some singles from their new one. They seem to be leaning away from the funk a bit and more towards a kind of Broken Bells sound.

There are still some nonzero levels of funk though.

The smiths are the only band I accept I'm terrible for liking but I can't help it.

A pal of mine plays drums in a Smiths/Morrissey tribute band. Went to a gig of theirs where they played the entire of The Queen is Dead. I'd never really cared at all about the Smiths before then, I liked This Charming Man but was happy to ignore them because Morrissey is such a loving dick. But now, yeah:

The music he made seems completely non political. This is why (huge IMO) it's fine to keep enjoying it. I dunno I still feel guilty though.

if this soothes your cognitive dissonance, great. i on the other hand will not support anything he's involved with because he thinks it's fine to spend decades casually spouting white nationalist talking points, saying mcdonalds is worse than genocide, etc. the fact that he's too stupid or self-absorbed to understand what he's doing doesn't change the fact that i don't want to live in a society where there is no consequence for saying the awful things he does. me not supporting him is the tiniest of tiny levers (and ultimately may not even matter), but it is an easy choice to make and the right thing to do

I totally agree, they aren't marketed nearly as well as they should be when on tour. They *still* haven't even announced a Vancouver date/venue for their fall tour despite being FROM here. They're playing Skookum fest but that doesn't count.

Their new music video is excellent to such a good track, they definitely deserve a better tour

They were always sort of like that though. I don't really think of them like other "shoegaze" bands even though they are written about as one of the lead proponents of the genre.

A lot of MBV was like that too. Parts of that record were nearly indecipherable. I know the vocals were, which is typical of shoegaze.

Well they have that same dreamlike aesthetic of having multiple layers of guitar and obscured vocals and stuff, but yeah, a decent portion of their music is fairly aggressive too. They're like a noise-rock/shoegaze hybrid, which was the case for several bands of that era. Jesus and Mary Chain have a similar thing going. The music is like a dream you're trying to remember after you wake up but several parts of it are distorted and inaccessible.

Really excited to see them again this September.

They need too shorten their name (seems superficial but it really matters). It's a top quality track though, good vibes.
