The countdown (assuming 24-hr days) is 49 days until the plant is back online and 49 more until the comm net is online. This is why I would like to find the other facilities quickly. Especially if the master control center is still responsive, it'll be able to tell Lamarr our access codes are fake, which I would expect to turn her aggressively hostile given the extent of our breach into her security.

Bringing the commnet back online is a good secondary priority, but yeah agreed that if we can put getting the actual 'formers running at the bottom of the queue that'd be great. We don't need them for anything right now and turning them on will just draw unwanted attention.

Actually, thinking about it, can we ask Lamarr to have her mechanotrons start work on some defensive systems? I'm sure she's gotta have the blueprints that are labeled as a basic level 1 Human security fence tucked away somewhere which because it's human tech turns out to be like a 40 foot doomwall covered in lasers. But yeah, we need defenses. Preferably anti-air/space ones.

It's not like we need to turn it on, at least not intentionally. What I'm interested in is that Central Control is where the Human probe landed and set up shop. The Human probe that was capable of manufacturing positronic brains like the one Lamarr is currently running on. And the one that we're currently running on. The one that we're currently running on that doesn't have nearly enough processing power on its own and is currently holding back our glorious consciousness with its petty, dare I say it almost mortal constraints.

So anyways, totally unrelated to my previous thought, it sure would be neat to get access to the capability and/or knowledge needed to manufacture more positronic hardware. For completely innocent, safe, and non-apotheosis-related reasons, yes sir...

I’d like to secure the site of Central Command before the Comm Net is complete, otherwise anyone who takes Central Command can take our facility away from us. Waking up Central Command before we can assert control is a risk which might be more easily measured on site. It’s also possible Central Command has been completely destroyed in the last few millenia.

We can try stalling on the Comm Net if time becomes an issue. Might be good to have an excuse though so Lamarr doesn’t realize we’re engaging in sabotage.

You'd have to do some astronomical calculations to determine where exactly the asteroid is now, as Lamarr's data is ~100 years out if date. But generally speaking, most of the Monopoly Belt is within 6 days travel of Mishpacha.

Kaijuberg Plateau

Today was as good a day as any to do this. Forgone Conclusion was in orbit sans shuttle, the bay holding the prefabricated sections of the new Orbital Site. No-one had asked ‘why’ when you had taken said shuttle from the cracked tarmac of the landing pad, one of the few perks of leadership. Now you and it were out here in the jungle, a can of paint at your feet. On a secure channel, the feed from the operation whispered in you head. You had told them all that you trusted them enough to be hands-off about this, and you do. But breaking the encryption ciphers in real-time was calming, like clicking a holo-stylus.

Secure Channels posted:

”We’ve reached the orbital insertion point. EVA team, 2 minutes to bay door opening.”
“Acknowledged Control.”
“Oh gently caress me, what is that smell? Didn’t we get new suits with the new ship?

You pick up the paintbrush, and examine it.
COME ON, THERE’S NO NEED TO DO THIS.

You shake your head and toss the brush aside, then dip your hand into the paint. Finding a nice flat section near the nose, you begin the smear paint on it. Horizontal stroke. Vertical stroke.
I MEAN, WE HAVE FUN RIGHT? WE LAUGH, WE JOKE, SOME OF YOUR COMPANIONS DIE UNDER MYSTERIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES. FUN.

Vertical stroke. Horizontal stroke. Vertical stroke.
I MEAN, THOSE COMPANIONS ASKED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT YOU. SO REALLY, KILLING THEM WAS DOING THEM A FAVOR.

Vertical-Horizontal-Horizontal-Horizontal.
FINE, BE THAT WAY. THIS IS GOING TO HURT YOU FAR MORE THAN ME.

You paint the last five runes on the shuttle’s hull. After a moment of thought, you add two more vertical stokes to the end.
“Hello Captain. I can’t help but see this as a bit of misplaced rebellion, going from your primary mode of transport to a small transatmospheric shuttle.”
*nervous laughter*“What? No way. So, what have you been up to Jenni? Your hair is looking nice.”
“Hmmm. An immediate use of avoidance behaviour. Not promising.”

Secure Channels posted:

”Bay doors open, we are pulling the installation clear.”
“Seriously. It smells like the the WC after Granny’s been at the lactose.”
“Specialist Johns!”

“No, no. I was just not quite expecting… this version of you.”
“I see. Tell me Captain, after your recent behaviour do you think you deserve the other Jenni?”
“... no, not really.”
“Exactly.”
SMUG JACKHOLE
“You realize I can hear that, yes?
“Yes, sorry. Its been a trying few weeks.”

Secure Channels posted:

”-samples, because I thought you might have a serious gastrointestinal disease.”
“What? No!.”
“Sir! Is it true that you had Jadzi upgrade the atmospheric scrubbers when I joined the crew?”

You make a series of apologetic hand gestures.
“Uh, duty calls? Sorry.”

Jenni nods, her neutral expression making her impossible to read.
“Yes, I’m sure your crew’s bowel exploits are of the utmost importance. We will continue this session later. When things are quiet and you think you’ll have a moment of relaxation.”

=====
So (Other) Jenni’s back! We also have our very own installation hidden away in the Mishpachan orbital clutter to begin research of the Mechanoid Cube. We’ve also reached a point where Kaijuberg is mature enough that we can leave it for a while.

Decision 1: What We Do
A: Stay Home
Gives small bonuses to Kaijuberg, plus Foregone Conclusion is on site if something happens.
B: Survey The Other Facility Sites
You have locations, but Lamarr has no idea of their current condition. Take a trip to check them out
C: Find Central Control
The asteroid that houses CentCon is somewhere within the Monopoly Belt. Some space-math should narrow it down enough for a road trip.
D: Survey A Local Area
Take a team and explore part of the Waistra Plateau
E: Other

Decision 2: What Does Kaijuberg Do?
F:Survey The Other Facility Sites (1 STP)
G: Find Central Control (2 STP)
H: Survey A Local Area (1 STP)
I: Trade Network (2 STP, +2 Influence)
J: Find the Feral Nephilim (1 STP)
K: Shuffle Workforce (-1 Farms/Mines/Industry this cycle, +1 Special Project)
Pull workers of their normal duties and reschedule things so that we have enough manpower for Kaijuberg to complete 2 Special Projects (Specify which ones)

obviously not doubling up on having Kaijuburg and us do the same thing

We have ten (10) STP at the moment. Finding Centcon is paramount, but only slightly less paramount is making sure nobody's getting fucky with the other terraformers. Or if they are, that we know about it.

I'd prefer to spend 1 STP on the search for the other facilities and 1 STP on the search for the feral nephs of interest if possible. Maybe one represents some of our staff and the Twi-far, the other represents some of our staff and Liz, or something. Accomplishing our neph contract would probably repay the STP with considerable interest anyway.

The Special Projects are all occurring at their own pace, we just have the resources to speed one along. But we don't have the manpower (Workforce) or logistics base (# of Outposts) to do more than one at a time. We could pull folks off their normal duties to help out, but that would mean we'd produce less Goods this cycle (basically as if our Production stats were one lower). I can add it as a new option:

K: Shuffle Workforce (-1 Farms/Mines/Industry this cycle, +1 Special Project)
