There's no reason for him to be on the team at this point. He was never a LOOGY and he can't get people out 90% of the time.

That doesn't mean he's good or should be on the team, but their lack of hitting is why they lost this game and why they got swept by a AAA team.

You can't just call every team with a worse record than the Yankees a AAA team.

6 runs should be enough to win a game, though. Today’s issue was primarily Boone’s decisions. He waited way too long to take out German when he clearly had nothing today. No control of his fastball and breaking pitches that wouldn’t break and stayed middle middle. He gave up a million extra base hits before he was finally removed. Using Shreve when he had a well rested Chapman was another questionable decision.

I would make up a phantom injury for Shreve instead of pure DFA, but yeah he's bad. I'm moderately upset that Boston lucked out with the way Seattle's rotation was set up.

After handling Seattle, they let the Rays walk all over them.

ZenVulgarity posted:They dumb It's one of the last bastions of old schoolery going on with the FO. They let Didi hit against lefties even though he "shouldn't" but they keep calling on Shreve like he can get anybody out, much less a lefty. It also can't be a sunk cost thing at this point since he was a throw-in for Carpenter and they cut ties with him quick.

It's worse that Walker and Bird are still getting AB's every day over Drury/Fraizer/Austin. I have a hard time getting worked up over the last guy in the bullpen.

Bird should be getting AB

I still believe in Bird and (I think I already posted this) Walker could probably be hitting at least average if he was batting everyday but there's no place for him to get that on this team so... (Austin is not better than Bird.)

Bird has not been good since his rookie season, which was before the first injury and was only an incredibly small sample size. He just might not be good.

I'm not calling for Bird to be DFA'd or anything but he needs to go down to AAA and work out his issues. He's not having major league caliber AB's right now.

They say he's got a great eye, but that doesn't matter when the entire league knows you have a hole in your swing and just shoots fastballs right by you.

Gallegos? Do they really need 14 pitchers on the active roster? I realize bench players rarely get to play, but that seems like poor roster construction in case of an injury or something during the game. This is especially true considering they're playing by NL rules for this series. ihatepants fucked around with this message at 22:19 on Jun 25, 2018 |
