Nothing to add to this other than I'm super hype and I'm very curious to see where they go in regards to Ruth and Debbie's relative privilege whereas the rest of the girls are either women of color or socially disenfranchised.

I just need more hilarious bad Russian accent & dad jokes in my life. I laughed way too hard at that in Season 1. The show was a bit slow until they started getting into the themed fights and actual wrestling, then it became alot better. They so need to get some WWE/WWF guest stars from the 80s/90s... I'd love to see The Rock do a cameo... please Netflix, call him and make it happen.

Edit; Have the fake-russian girl wrestle The Rock wearing a soviet bear suit crying about how socialist state is too powerful to be stopped, then have the american girl jump in with some other WWE dude wearing a bald eagle suit and kick both their commie asses of the ring. :D

Just finished episode 4 and really loving it. May be better than the first so far. They did a really nice job of blending behind-the-scenes of production while giving more emphasis on characters now that they don't have to focus on the build-up of getting GLOW made in the first place.

It's good seeing a show where people can be both terrible and sympathetic at the same time. The writers are knocking it out so far.

E: hahaha Episode 8 showing the episode of GLOW is loving amazing

I forgot Kate Nash was in this. I liked some of her songs back in the day.

7 episodes deep so far and the blowout between Ruth and Debbie in episode 7 is goddamned incredible. Perfect writing and performances.

Overall I think I like this season more than the first so far although they’re very close.

Finished the whole season, that was a weird mix of bleak melancholy and complete delight

It was so great seeing Sam sort his poo poo out over the season and him losing both Justine and Ruth was really sad :(

That was fun. I don't know if it was worth shotgunning it on the day it was released, but I liked it quite a bit.

But I do feel kinda weird about this show as a whole. I like the feminist plot lines and the strong characters, but I kinda have to admit to myself that I really enjoy seeing those fit women wrestle in elaborate outfits. I do wonder if it feels degrading to the actresses. To be honest, I feel kinda bad about that. They look really great though.

Regarding feminism, the hamfisted episode 5 hashtag me too Weinstein plotline left a really sour taste in my mouth. I haven't seen any more yet, but a friend was worried that this show would "Jenji Kohen off a cliff" and there are worrying little signs of that.

Finished episode 4 and this is utterly heartbreaking knowing what Kia Stevens went through when she was a wrestler. I kept hoping the meaningful glances between Belle & Queen were signaling a title retention but the show goes on. "What is a mother without a child?...just a woman" oof.

Everything feels gross but maybe it'll get better, until it doesn't, so they've really captured 80's wrestling culture.

Huge disagree on this. It's showbiz in the 80s, this kinda poo poo would have been running rampant.

I mean... I guess? It's the 80s, they all look fuckin ridiculous. It's a useful part of the show's conceit, since they can deal with themes of objectification while hiding part of the actual objectification behind awful eye searing fashion.

I feel like it started off the same level of quality as S1 then got better every episode. Especially episode 8 ...

That was was real good. Took until episode 6 to really take off, but MAN did it take off.

I love Marc Maron just being Marc Maron. And Bash gets some very good moments. So is he gay or not? It's probably the latter and he's just marrying Brittanica because he can help her out without having to marry the dweeb.

I think Bash marrying Rhonda is just his way to try and convince himself that he's not gay. 'Cause he's definitely gay. The question is, does he have AIDS? Will he pass it to Rhonda? And will it create a panic if Rhonda get cut in the ring and everyone's afraid of catching it?

Yeah, he's gay. "I love you, Rhonda!" was just for show. But are we supposed to think he had sex with Florian? I wasn't sure if he had come to terms with it enough for that.

For as much as the show is ostensibly a comedy (and Bash gets some of the best comic moments) his character and his arc at least through episode 7 is heartbreaking and even though he's a trust fund kid I feel a tremendous amount of empathy for him. Honestly the only characters that haven't been given much depth are the Toxic duo and uh, Phil?

To be honest I hope they never really get around to fleshing them out, because that would be less time spent with better characters. It's OK to have some filler in an ensemble cast.

With the ratio of hilarious to depressing the show has, its basically Bojack Horseman, but with wrestling.

Coming as someone who doesn't care about wrestling in any shape or form, this show is great.

In season 1 they were always getting stoned and partying so I think that's accurate. I liked them a lot more in S1, they really aren't that funny or even "there much" in S2. The Toxic Twin persona is really good though.
