It makes sense from a business perspective. You want an actual NWA wrestler to get the rub losing to Cody. The most genius part is Cody organising the biggest US indie show so he doesn't have to shell out for the title.

Cody? Are you sure you want this? The NWA title...it's less than meaningless. It's an active detriment. Being NWA champion today is like being the Emperor of Carthage today.
