Liefeld's pretty much known all throughout the industry as a huge douche who's also literally never on time with submissions, he's another guy that gets away with it because he's too integral to that fondly remembered XXXTREME era of comics and was responsible for creating at least a few good characters that've lasted. And then there's Bloodpool, Bloodstrike and Bloodwulf. When people make jokes about DEATHMEAT AND BLOODGUN they're not exaggerating that far.

Basically all of those old stories are made up out of whole cloth by somebody claiming to be the "sound guy" on Kickassia, which if you know literally anything about the budget and production quality of the anniversary movies disproves those accounts instantly. If anything about them turned out to be accurate, it's more likely a coincidence.

Speaking of the nerds who's social isolation and anxiety was ripe ground for hate groups to exploit, Mother's Basement did a video about how he was able to come out of his shell and deal with his demons by playing Yugioh and socializing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfMxuqtiM_I It's a good vid.

In the one I read, the writer identified themselves as having been “hired mostly to help out with production sound but ended up just doing odd jobs on set”. Supposedly this was because they didn’t have a proper microphone to use. Not that that proves or disproves it in any way (it's 4chan, so odds are it's still bullshit), but it does amuse me to think of them going to the trouble of hiring a sound specialist because we're making a professional movie damnit without even understanding what exactly one does or what equipment they would need.

A good test for narratives like that is seeing whether it accuses women of being promiscuous, as that’s where the id of the internet male really takes over the imaginative process.

Finally got around to watching Hbomberguy's Lovecraft video and the amount of empathy that Harris has for Lovecraft was brave and surprising but really made the video special. Looks like Harris' next video will be on Night in the Woods which is not a game I loved but I'm really looking forward to watching it. NITW's is one of those media that I might not like a lot but the conversation around it is really good and Scott Benson seems like a cool dude.

I loved that game. its not perfect but i thought i nailed east coast small town poo poo well. it shows how people from there(like myself) feel kinda a drift and you see why people who are hopeless and abandoned reach out for any kind a savior even if means loving themselves over in the process. plus it made this hottake happen. apperently the game is very regressive and trumpian because it doesnt show small town folks as evil and at the end they create a union. which is very trumpist. https://medium.com/@BootlegGirl/night-in-the-woods-a-rebirth-of-graphic-adventure-games-and-trumpian-propaganda-in-disguise-34ef70e1ccf0 On harris's empathy for lovecraft, its interesting and nice, he had a pretty good take of where lovecraft came from and how he became the way he was. its tragic that someone as creative as him was that afraid and angry of the greater world. *WARNING! Controversial person inbound!* So, Blaire White did a bit of a livestream last night, and was quite candid about her experience with a lot of other people in the right-wing political YouTube sphere, and how insincere they could be - how so few of them actually believe anything they say, how they'd be super friendly chatting before going live and then as soon as the cameras come on the first thing they say is "I don't know if I should call you he or she" and so on, and how she found that incredibly frustrating...she didn't name names as such, but people were speculating the likes of Steven Crowder and Ben Shapiro as being inferred (which makes like, perfect sense). She talked about how, in no uncertain terms, she didn't want to "be a oval office" on YouTube anymore, that she was essentially done with making response videos and was genuinely sorry for how she'd behaved in ones from the past aimed at folks like Riley (she did do one recently and it wasn't a nice experience at all) Blaire is getting a bigger and bigger profile now and seems much more at home making pretty light-hearted and thoroughly non-political videos like one where she tried to be a man for a day, or collabed with Shane Dawson - this is a pretty good thing on the whole as she's kinda clearly in a way better place (as is the case with a lot of the actually not too bad political commentators - ergo, the ones that I like - lately, it seems). Something like this happening wasn't surprising, and it was nice to see Blaire finally lift the lid on some of the obvious bullshit. On the whole there's been some good growth. Seems kinda similar to what Theryn Meyer went through a lil' while back. I can't imagine this will suddenly start convincing people to like her or anything (and I really don't want to start an argument on this, especially on a day where the main concern should be about football and it coming home) but positive changes should be welcomed.

It would also be nice if she formally repudiated her earlier politics and named specific names when talking about insincere reactionaries before transitioning into a nonpolitical makeup tips or fast food review channel, although several people have mentioned how those creeps think everyone is playing a role and not named any of them. There must be elements of the youtube politics game that aren’t visible from the outside such that even trash gets the code of silence treatment from people who recognize it as trash.
