Hella hype for true fully automated luxury space communism where we kill all the noblebots and expropriate their components to build more workerbots to produce more luxuries to sell for more minerals.

I wonder if minerals are now just split into refined purple bars for battleship construction and sparkly ring space communism luxuries or if it's more complicated than that.

Do you think this is funny?
I like the idea of a distinction between energy-energy and finance-energy even though I have no real idea how it will work out. I guess when you actually need to power something, the latter won't do?

This is the Captain...

Our glorious political masters have, in their wisdom, decided to form an alliance with a rag-tag bunch of freedom fighters right when the Federation has us at a tactical disadvantage. Unsurprisingly, this has resulted in the Feds firing on our vessels...

Completely baseless speculation: Blue lightning is money energy and not-blue lightning is regular energy, or vice versa. You can use either to pay people but you can't power buildings with money.

Wiz, while you're making changes for 2.2, can you please add the rest of the L-gate events in? There is a bunch of dialog in the localisation files for what looks like events that are supposed to happen when the L-cluster isn't full of death, but none of the actual events are there.

it's unannounced teaser stuff from wiz's twitter. While i'm sure the next dlc will tie into it somehow, given the paradox model everything shown thus far is probably patch stuff

"I can no longer sit back and allow nationalist shitposting, nationalist indoctrination, nationalist subversion, and the German nationalist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious game balance."
So my guesses for the resources are: Blue Energy is ?, Yellow Energy is Energy (funds maintenance, is an inter-species currency), Red Minerals is Raw minerals (don't do anything by themselves), Green Apple is Food as we know and love it, then you've got the classic 3 branches of science and Unity, pink-purple ingots are industrial resources (manufactured out of raw minerals, you build things with them) and sparkly ring is luxury goods (manufactured out of raw minerals, they pay for upkeep on your better-off citizens). This lines up with sparkly rings seemingly produced by Artisans, Reserach by Researchers and Ingots by Metallurgists (there's also an Enforcer specialist producing what seems to be either military power or unrest reduction).

That Blue Energy is mysterious - it's not used as upkeep for anything, so it's probably not an intra-empire currency. But it's also generated by the same Worker class that generates Luxury Goods. So it's probably something physical?

It's not that bad. Major expansions so far come 5-6 months after minor ones so around November is likely.

Bang! You're dead.
The 2.0 changes had ~5 months worth of pre-release diaries, Utopia and Synthetic Dawn were much the same. According to Wiz they are planning to start up again in August so if they keep up that trend that would theoretically put us into late December/early January for a release window.

That obviously just pure speculation but I would be (pleasantly) surprised if it came out sooner.

It's energy. It's blue. It's made by "clerks", the class that works with books and has high intelligence but low physical stats.

I've always taken it to be a 2001: A Space Odyssey reference, where the player empire are the "apes" who discovered it.

OwlFancier
Aug 22, 2013

Well the Edda is a big norse mythology book from which we derive most of our knowledge of it, and much like classical myth, people at the time didn't entirely separate between stories and history, the myths were probably, for a lot of people, their best understanding of the past, and even actual historical events were mythologized and turned into new stories. Like if King Arthur was someone you thought was real once upon a time.

So, you're dealing with a story, and possibly a culture, that doesn't discriminate betwen history and mythology. Hence too fantastical to be real.

SirTagz
Feb 25, 2014

These are reasonable explanations... but I was hoping I will have to read a new book with another monolith in it. Which would have been surely fantastic.... sigh
