I’ve seen all the RE movies, and enjoyed a couple of them. They’re trash but occasionally they’re like RE6 levels of bad/completely amazing.

Just like the Underworld movies, if you don't take them seriously at all and recognize the film directors are/were married to the main actresses and writing their wives to be badass supernatural juggernauts they're really great popcorn flicks.

Those movies were like ‘Resident Evil: The Fanfic: The Movie (OC do not steal)’ Oh hey, that hulking unstoppable monster following you through the entirety of RE3? My wife bests it in a fist fight.

Completed Chris's dlc on Normal. It was suprisingly tense even though you they were fairly generous with ammo. Not probably doing it on Professional anytime soon though, I have feeling I might lose some sleep attempting it. I like how they designed an automatic shotgun just to kill BOWs. It was very satisfying to unload on the final boss.

Not A Hero on Professional 100% requires getting good at parrying, which is a great mechanic that I didn't even realize was a thing on my regular playthrough. Though goddamn was I stuck on the end boss for days.

If Chris blocks at the right moment when an enemy attacks, they will stagger as if he shot them in the head, opening them up for his patented Redfield Right Hook without using any ammo. Side-note: Dug out RE:DC (NOT Dualshock, I'm keeping the good soundtrack thank you very much) and I forgot how loving hard this game is. Hunters are legitimately bs thanks to stunlocking, their speed, and just how slowly you fire the shotgun. No wonder this game gave me so much trouble as a kid. Any room or hallway with 2+ Hunters was always the stuff of nightmares for me back then, especially the corridor area next to the Tiger Statue room. Still is, if I'm not paying enough attention.

I played RE1 recently and accidentally got the best ending my first run though, Hunters are a PAIN especially if they jump behind you, and double-so when they're invincible flying through the air making you waste ammo. On my Claire playthrough which was second, I got cocky because I had so much ammo and by the time I was finishing up the lab, no ammo or herbs at all :')

Other than that it’s only for masochists. RE0 is much more difficult than Remake in general, and the enemies can always gently caress you (especially Becky) up if you get careless.

Fun fact about the movies, Milla Jovovich has had martial arts training but not any stage fight training. So there was an actual incident where she accidentally punched Paul W.S Anderson in the face when filming one of the movies.

I don’t care much about canon for the re movies but man for popcorn action films they are kind of boring. Though like the games the best scenes have Wesker.

The knife in REmake is actually great, but only if you’re playing as Chris. I did a knife-only run not too long ago and it’s a lot easier than you’d think; the only parts that gave me trouble were the Crimson Elder and the Hunter you have to save Rebecca from (which is optional anyway), due to the cramped room you fight it in. In fact I’d suggest always fighting Yawn 2 with the knife, no matter what kind of playthrough you’re doing, just because it’s really easy to kite him around and it saves you a lot of ammo.

i played re5 recently cuz it was the only main one i hadnt much experience with except unlike re6 i decided to let random ppl drop in and play sheva and boy.... it feels hilariously busted having random experts drop in n out to basically escort u thru the game on the one hand i feel i was kinda robbed of the proper slow-paced resident evil experience but on the other hand it was pretty loving funny n surreal too btw every scene with wesker loving rules and its a shame hes dead

I've probably brought this up before, but my favorite thing about the live-action films is that they used the "sunglasses throw" bit from RE5 at one point, which was already a shout-out to an old Mark Dacascos movie called Drive when it showed up in the game. It's a second-generation rip-off.

My PSone RE games arrived, and RE2 has an advertisement on the box for a contest to "Win a Part in the Movie or other Great Prizes" which ended on 4-1-98. The movie didn't even have a script yet at that point, so I think Capcom's US marketing team might've been jumping the gun just a little bit and for some reason I don't think the winner of the contest actually got to appear as Zombie #17 in the Paul W. S. Anderson film four years later.

That's what I assumed, but then I did some research (skimmed the movie's Wikipedia article) and found out Romero didn't get involved until later in 1998 and wasn't hired to direct the film until early 1999. By the time of RE2's release, only the first draft of the script by Alan McElroy existed.

Resident Evil would work better as a tv series somewhere on Showtime or HBO. Season 1 is RE, season 2 is RE2, and so on. Would keep things fresh and you'd have enough time to go through everything. Maybe it won't happen but I'd love to see an ACTUAL Resident Evil movie down the line

The best Resident Evil movie moment is in one of the CGI ones where for like two minutes Chris Redfield and his friends just talk about how great they think Breaking Bad is.
