I tried to learn puyo but I'm way too lazy to figure out how to set up chains and stuff so I'm terrible at it. I've got it on Switch and am always down to play but I'm not particularly good unless it's just Tetris and that's kinda boring.

What's the highest you've seen in ranked PPT? I had a 22000, 60th in world last night. He wasn't playing serious, he'd build a stack at inhuman speed then let his Tetrises soft drop while waiting to see what I desperately responded with.

I'm still terrible at this but I've been watching mid-high level players play this on Twitch all morning and it's just fascinating to me. The way a fight between a good Tetris player and a good Puyo player can still be so balanced. Such a good game.

Making the patch changes affect puyo vs puyo was really dumb though.

stop laying your puyos flat and take advantage of verticality for example if you bout to get hit with 1-2 rows of garbage  if you lay your next piece down flat your trigger gets buried   lay it vertically instead and you still have access to your chain

Thanks, I've sort of been working that out but I'm wondering, are there are any set opening forms better suited vs Tetris than GTR? I see some people make a big three wide tail structure on the right side right off the bat.

also i see a bunch of bad players all the time try to match colors with the one that just got buried like yeah i guess you can dig with that after a while but its way easier if you leave at least one color of separation

It's absolutely beautiful when a little 2 or 3 chain continues through the garbage and hits a trigger that got buried what feels like ages ago. (And then you die anyway cause of some 4wide horseshit) e: that holy counter is exactly what I needed. I understand the basic idea of the counter but having an ideal form to follow instead of flailing with improvisation is really gonna help. Thanks!
