The trading system is designed to make it a long term commitment to complete your dex and is otherwise a thing you can use or ignore with no real problems either way. And the friendship system that goes hand in hand with that is great for local raid groups where the people aren't all on the same team and the XP you get from ranking friends up is also very nice. it's actually one of Niantic's better thought out systems DaStampede posted:That is a ridiculous amount of dust. Yeah, I probably should've expanded on my post saying that normal trades are far more reasonable. They really don't want legendaries and other rare encounters to be easily given to others.

The local Discord is shooting for another EX raid trigger. We've got 20 unique accounts that have raided at one of the EX-eligible gyms. This morning, three of us managed to arrive at a 1-star raid at the same time, so we destroyed a poor Makuhita in about two seconds. So yeah, fingers crossed for tomorrow's expected distribution time. Also, I just realized that there's now an elegant solution for Ninjask/Shedinja: make an "Evolve a Nincada" research task that always rewards an encounter with a Shedinja. C'mon guys, I want my dead ninja bug!

Got to do a Registeel raid tonight at the EX gym we're targeting! It just came in before the evening raid cutoff. Bad news: I did not catch it.  Good news: This brings the gym to around 30 confirmed unique accounts in the last week, so we're almost certainly getting EX passes tomorrow, unless we get clockblocked. Fingers crossed. A little help from anyone with a Go-tcha. I bought one and it is great, but I can't seem to get it to only do gyms and pokestops on auto. I have it set to auto spin them, but it never does. It seems to target a pokemon in the area, and not switch to the spinner. Is there a way around this or is this just how it works? I have auto on unknown and collect stops. I have vibrate off and disable animations. Auto cap known Pokemon is turned off.

I can’t speak for DizzyBum, but the same thing happened here. It’s a gym that gets a ton of raiding activity and regularly hosts EX raids. But twice in two weeks it has been shut out by a raid. Stupid makuhita! edit: got an EX pass from another gym, though! I hadn't planned to raid there, either, but couldn't pass up that LOL raichu... Score! If a gym has an active raid when the EX pass wave goes out, that gym is skipped for EX eligibility that week, yeah. Also I've heard that beyond gym blocking if you yourself are raiding when a wave goes out you might get skipped, but I only know one person who's complained about that. On the other hand he's a regular and frequent raider so if anyone was going to get blocked that way, it's him. And I've definitely raided with him enough and gotten EX passes to know he should also have gotten them but didn't.
