Another wasn't a firing, but the chemistry department planned to overhaul the general chemistry lab curriculum to be more real world based, but then the whole project was abruptly shitcanned after the professor in charge suggested the students should test the school's drinking water as a lab. Think about it - those deaths only occurred in a world where socialism exists. You can't disprove the possibility that they would have never happened if socialism never existed! Zoran posted:I agree that saying end white people is fine Yeah, I think there's a difference, and also the "burn all flyover states" type stuff is often punching down (privileged liberals in major cities "joking" about killing all rurals, etc). There's usually a very heavy classist implication involved (they're not imagining wealthy people - they likely have a mental image of poor whites in mind). And that's not even getting into the whole "a very large portion of black people live in the areas they're usually referring to" stuff (though that mostly just reveals how stupid and superficial their own politics are). [https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/02/health/fda-fentanyl-opioid-epidemic-overdose-cancer.html?smid=tw-nytimesscience&smtyp=cur]From this crazy little part of the NYT that reports things:[/url] WASHINGTON — A fast-acting class of fentanyl drugs approved only for cancer patients with high opioid tolerance has been prescribed frequently to patients with back pain and migraines, putting them at high risk of accidental overdose and death, according to documents collected by the Food and Drug Administration. The F.D.A. established a distribution oversight program in 2011 to curb inappropriate use of the dangerous medications, but entrusted enforcement to a group of pharmaceutical companies that make and sell the drugs. Some of the companies have been sued for illegally promoting other uses for the medications and in one case even bribing doctors to prescribe higher doses. About 5,000 pages of documents, obtained by researchers at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health through the Freedom of Information Act and provided to The New York Times, show that the F.D.A. had data showing that so-called off-label prescribing was widespread. But officials did little to intervene.

anime was right posted:every single one of those "racist" tweets jeong made were literal parodies of racism lmao https://twitter.com/attackerman/status/1025337335175700480 Serious post, I'm not sure who linked this before but this is the crux of this whole "racist" reactionary argument being echoed by the right. The right thinks the term racist means hate on a literally sense. So they commonly use that defense, "I dont hate black people." when being accused of being racist. Which is kinda true, that they dont hate them but they do think they are automatically better than them. If you consider being called racist in terms of the support of unequal power structure-like way, where the person does not hold the other equal to them, then their reaction makes perfect sense. It explains why the term literally flies right over their head. It reminds me of that post about baltimore prison inmates understood privilege or Marxist concepts while Ivy League students couldnt get it as quickly.

richard wolff has lots of personal anecdotes of persecution and extreme anti-socialist bias in academia he also interviewed a middle aged professor on his show who was denied tenure-ship in vermont because he slanted socialist in his views just straight up constantly lying about what academia is like in politics and economics is par for the course though. both liberal and conservative news media are promoting the absurd viewpoint that colleges and universities are rampant with marxist professors
