Guys in my local discord are losing their poo poo because they had 900 or more stockpiled that they now have to burn.

If you run away from a quest reward, it gets stored for later with the same encounter. If you do this multiple times it all stacks up, oldest to newest, on the single top reward slot.

It was dumb to ever leave that uncapped.

I saved up like 6 toward the end of squirtle day and redeemed them after the event on the reward quests to get more squirtles. I have never had over 7 but I read about people keeping way over 100...

Saving them is also nice for the "catch X number of Y type of species" and "make X number of Y type catches" research tasks. Knocks 'em out faster, and makes it possible to burn through some quickly at home, even with little to no spawns.

Some people were also berrying, then running, ao that each berry was removed from their bags. Which does add up if you're saving hundreds, or even 20+, but I never got in the habit. Since the Regitrio all sucks fat cock and I raided too hard for a while anyway, I'm having fun golding gyms. I need those berries for that sweet 20/30 stardust and 10 gym XP.

Good to hear that Last Resort will carry over into evolutions, but...unless it's some really overpowered move, why would you want to ruin STAB damage for whatever type it becomes and its respective type's fast attacks?

I'm still very curious but won't hold my breath that Last Resort will be anything other than a normal type move with lukewarm dps. I thought maybe it would be worthy on a Vaporeon because it's only got the one option of Water Gun as its fast attack and it got nerfed once, but you'd only use Vaporeon for the water advantage since it has no other type attack, and Last Resort would have to be super strong to make it have more utility than Water Gun.

So unless its dps is like 15 or it generates insane energy for the charge move, fuggetaboutit.

I'm not 100% on this, but as far as I know, the only conditions are that you must have walked with them for at least 10km and they have to be your buddy when evolving. They retain their walking amounts and you can make them your buddy again, so I assume you can.

edit: gently caress it, I just made an eevee that's walked 10km previously my buddy again. Got an espeon. Seems to work.

I somehow managed to get three of those tasks in quick succession, and of course no more Pikachu. Luckily it was raining that night so there were enough Plusle/Minun spawns to get me through.

Whenever you get a pokemon as a reward for your research encounter, just run away. Your research list will now have 4 research slots displayed like this: 3 normal ones that you are working on, plus a fourth up top that is used to re-enter the previously fled pokemon encounter. Every new encounter that you repeat this way gets stacked on top and you will only ever see a fourth research slot, with no indication of what or how much is stacked. Up until now there has been no limit and some people have hundreds waiting to be redeemed, but 100 is still quite generous. When you choose to redeem them, just click on the top reward and they'll come back in the order that you stacked them.

It's very worthwhile to store them in bulk and catch later.

It gives something to do when you're at home without spawns.
Use a star piece to get extra dust before redeeming a bunch.
Store specific pokemon rewards to use toward completing others. i.e. Onix and Golduck are easiest to get excellent throws on, storing those rewards made it easier to get x3 excellent in a row for Larvitar. Store dratini rewards to chain them with other "catch a dragon" tasks later.
Bank them to catch during special events like this weekend's x3 stardust.
Use a berry on them, then run away. The berry is deducted from your inventory but will still be applied when you re-enter the encounter later which helps manage your item storage. (note: The current patch broke this feature and it breaks your game. Do not run away from a berried encounter or you will be stuck unable to catch that pokemon until the next update.)

Triple stardust event plus star piece means 450+ dust for every catch and you're able to power through them with zero downtime. I had been saving a bunch of rewards for this weekend until I learned about this recent berry bug that kinda screwed me over since all of mine have been pre-pinapped.
