Apparently Newfies do this purely on instinct - I remember a goon talking about his one who had to be locked up all summer to stop him breaking out and "rescuing" kids from neighbourhood pools.

My mother has a story about going canoeing when she was a kid and having the family Newfoundland swim out into the lake and all but overturn their boat trying to rescue her.

He could knock us to the ground at will just through being a puppy and really excited to see us.

Hi, thread! I had a surgical procedure today in which I had a nerve block and a nasty reaction to propofol. At the moment I'm sitting here and I can't feel my left leg from the knee down (and it's REALLY loving unsettling), and I really, REALLY need black cats. This is Puck keeping me company after the surgery 4 years ago that led to the procedure I had today. He stayed right by my side for the whole recovery (which was long and painful and not really the point). That surgery was August 2014; he died in January 2015. Broke my drat heart. He was the best loving cat ever and even though I have two cats now, I still miss his furry little rear end every loving day. There's just a big ol' Puck-shaped hole in my heart that's probably never gonna heal. Black cats are awesome and I love them all. Share them with me please.
