Idris Elba is (probably) going to be the next James Bond.

I think this is cool because Idris Elba is a badass - my only concern is that Bond can be lighthearted / flippant a lot of the times and I've only seen this actor playing Charles Miner in The Office so I don't know how well he'll do with that stuff. No doubt he'll be a believable lady slayer.

Here are interesting tidbits:

He's 6' 3'' which makes him the tallest Bond, a hair higher than Connery at 6'2''.
He's 45, which may seem old but Roger Moore and Sean Connery were both in their 50's during their last movies. He's a little above average age for a new Bond - so he may also be in his 50's if he runs for a few movies.
He is English despite his good American accent on The Office.
Bond will once again have dark hair, which was a major sticking point with me when Daniel Craig took over the role.
Those are all the things I can think of.

I think my fondness for Pierce Brosnan's Bond was 100% derived from N64: Goldeneye and had nothing to do with his acting skills as Bond.

Skyfall and Casino Royale were pretty good. I didn't like Specter so much because it felt anticlimactic.

That one with the Russian chick from that horrible Punisher movie with Mark Wahlberg was awful.

Everything Brosnan did was a joke except Goldeneye.

Haven't they been speculating about him since like before Brosnan left? Though I hear they approached Brosnan before Dalton, but he was too busy with Remington Steel or something.

Movie GoldenEye is good and also it's pretty cool once you realize many of the levels in the game are like 1:1 reconstructions of the sets in the movie :monocle:
