Jenkem Delivery posted:Yeah, the Bucks dont have a huge incentive to go as they have a thriving business going with Kenny and Cody. They sell a ton of merch and very likely get revenue from BTE. If they went to WWE they'd have to work more dates, get a smaller cut of merchandising revenue and would have to stop doing BTE. Also wouldn't be able to guarantee the team wouldn't be split up randomly depending on how management felt that day As the Shield showed, saying no to attempts to break you up doesn't work forever, because eventually they get smart enough to not let you know of an attempt until minutes before it's to happen live

WWE definitely wouldn't agree to the former and the latter would be a very difficult clause for them to agree on.

Bucks in WWE: They would be allowed to use the "Too Sweet" gesture, but only for a week, after which they're involved in an segment where The Kliq comes out, pretends to show solidarity towards the Bucks, but then lays them out. HBK would Superkick them, Nash would Powerbomb them, then HHH would pedigree them. Then The Kliq stands tall, as we go to commerical. Then two weeks later the Bucks job to Titus Worldwide on Main Event.

I don’t know their long term plans, but clearly they are good businessmen and WWE would be a wrecking ball to everything they’ve built. If they’re looking to cash in and get out it’s a good option but I think having control of a long term brand is where the money and comfort is really at

Nah, Hunter would let them 'join' DX while making every segment and match about him, and then the payoff would be to pedigree both guys and leave them laying on a random Raw, like that time he did it to Paul London and Brian Kendrick.

When was the last time WWE fielded a faction larger than a trios? If anything it'd be cool to have AJ, Balor, Karl, Gallows and Bucks run wild again.

Then they’d randomly get the tag titles on a B-show PPV and nobody would care except for the people who would go “hey I think they’re the first tag team to win the ROH, IWGP Jr. and Heavy, and WWE tag titles, this flat win is actually really historic”. I wonder who would be the first guy who hasn’t worked since like 1991 to walk up to them and tell them “well you guys don’t really know how to work, there’s no psychology and you don’t sell correctly, try doing [thing that goes completely against the reason the Bucks got over everywhere else].” I mean, WWE has figured out a way to screw up both the Hardy return “tour” after the initial moment+win, and Broken Matt. The Bucks would be cooked the moment they got called up (because they seem like guys who would be like “yeah we’ll do like six months in NXT” just to do it).

Bucks have said they aren't going to take an NXT deal so if they ever go to the WWE they'll be straight up misused on the main roster without having a good NXT run first.

They're aware NXT deals are significantly less than main roster pay. If they go, they've said they're only going for main roster money, nothing less

I'm trying to think if there's actually been anyone since AJ who's been allowed to skip NXT. Although I don't know if there's been anyone as big a deal as AJ to come along since then, and the Bucks would be the closest to that level, so I guess I could see their point of view. I guess they would just have a big ROH farewell match where they do basically every move they've ever come up with since I can't imagine WWE would approve of them doing at least half of those on TV (so one would have to wait until a Mania match to actually see a Meltzer Driver again, which Michael Cole would call, uh, "INNOVATIVE OFFENSE!").

I often forget they even are a part of the company, but I’m also convinced the only reason they got hired was AJ really wanted them to be signed and WWE was willing to move heaven and earth to get AJ and tacking on another several hundred thousand dollars to hire two other guys was totally worthwhile to them. Would also probably explain why they skipped NXT, too.

Y’know, how about we don’t count people who had several year runs in the company prior to returning, because otherwise any nostalgia pop they grab for would count. So it would be AJ, Karl, Mike, and Ronda, and both Karl and Mike are associated with previous long-term workers in the company, so they’re kinda disqualified because they got to slip in with Doc and Maria.

Does Doc Gallows really qualify as a "nostalgia" return, though? He was a lackey in his run. Would Orlando Jordan qualify as a nostalgia return? Although both Doc and Anderson were obviously at least loosely associated with Balor and Styles and capitalizing off the popularity of the Bullet Club so I think they still count as separate that way.

Gallows being a lackey to one of your biggest former stars during what was honestly his hottest heel period counts, I think (SES was a loving heat magnet, holy poo poo). He also was a bit over as Festus for a moment there, even had a Smackdown main event against Undertaker that was a surprisingly good hoss-off. Over enough to have Punk figure out a way to try to transition him from Festus to Gallows since they knew crowds would chant his old gimmick’s name if they didn’t address it, anyway. But yeah, he would also slip in under the “AJ wants you guys with him if he signs” sort of deal, the same way I bet the only reason Fale got a contract offer during the NJPW raid was because Balor was like “ooh, please get him, he’s my very good buddy”.

I think he introduced a Championship Ring when he was ROH Champ because he felt it was more fitting. And I guess he just wears it still. I guess if he won the title again he'd get a second ring?

I'm pretty sure its got the ROH logo on it. I think its just his gimmick and he's pretty good at it. And I mean, its representative of Cody's first/only "World Title" so it could actually be reasonable important to him, or at least in kayfabe. edit: Yeah, it seems to be a gimmicked sports Championship ring. https://twitter.com/CodyRhodes/stat...g-honor-ring%2F

Its a pretty standard sports championship ring design, just with less expensive jewels. I totally get what he was going for with it. They're pretty much all gaudy and ugly as gently caress. The ROH logo looks weird though. Honestly, if anything he just didn't make it tacky enough.
