They changed the way the rulers worked thankfully, they get 2 actions for all of your squad actions, rather than a 1-1 ratio. Also they only show up when you are attacking facilities so they won't normally appear anyway.

No they didn't change Rulers in that way. They work the almost exactly same they just don't get a reaction for reload or actions outside their LOS anymore.

You can avoid them in 3 ways.

1) delete the DLC
2) don't integrate the DLC and never do the mission where you trigger them
3) integrate the DLC and never attack the specific facilities you get a pop up warning to show they're guarding them.

These are all good tips, but for the bolded one above, note that you don't just have to finish the level -- you have to talk to the blueprint collector guy in the area between levels. Also, you can break the door by that dude if you don't want to spend your cells, but are saving them for something else (like the forge after the bosses).

It might be worth checking for incompatibilities or driver conflicts on your end, because that game really shouldn't be visually demanding enough to produce slowdowns when a game like Sniper Elite doesn't. Might be the game just doesn't play nice with your system. I upgraded to a GTX 1070 a while ago and have had strange and seemingly completely arbitrary issues with random games ever since.

Aw, bugger. I guess it was too good to be true, anyway. Those things have been a persistent annoyance to me for as long as I've been playing that game. It just seems like such a bad design decision. There's nearly always something really good behind those things, but it's practically never worth what you'll lose by not fully exploring previous levels for any permanent upgrades that might be hidden deeper in side branches.

It makes the entire thing feel like a newbie trap. It's absolutely not ever worth rushing for them at the expense of stat ups, they're just there to make you feel like you ought to. It's kind of pointless for those things to even exist.

This is a bad take. Enemies get stronger when you acquire stat ups, so missing them isn't really a big deal. They are designed to give you something to make up for blitzing a level once you've gotten everything you need from there.

...they do? Okay, I guess I really missed a lot since early access, because that very much didn't used to be the case. It used to be that enemy strength was directly tied to which zone you were in and completely independent from your own character's power progression, so missing even a single stat-up wasn't just a bad thing, it was often outright crippling. If that has changed, then I suppose the time doors are a valid alternative for people who prefer to do rushes instead of picking through everything more slowly.

The mechanics for how it works are still muddy, but there has been testing that shows concrete proof of scaling to players stats.

Thanks for the warning, then. I gotta say, that really kind of ruins the fun a bit. The finished version did a lot to fix the previous problems with the stat system, but I really loathe level scaling. It makes getting stronger feel really pointless, because in relative terms, you never actually do.

They did change them in that way too, rulers only get reaction turn with 25% chance when your soldier does an action(that's in addition to excluding reload and out of sight actions). Rulers are pushovers by comparison to what they were in original DLC release because then ruler reaction triggered every time you did anything.

Something for Two-Point Hospital;

You can assign more than one staff member to rooms like the Wards, Marketing and Research by clicking on the room, the Stats tab, and using the + button to assign extra staff (one is mandatory, the other added slots will populate on their own as applicable staff are available). Just dropping extra personnel into the room doesn't count.

If you can’t place any object anywhere in your hospital, you probably have an illegal/inaccessible object somewhere else you need to straighten out. I’ve especially seen people make this mistake with plants, which need watering access.

There doesn’t seem to be really too many gotchas in Two Point. You can get full refunds for all rooms and items.

The absence of the classic Bullfrog sprite style in favour of more sterile and generic 3D graphics does take away a bit from its charm, though. The goofiness did a lot towards making that game fun.

I never played Theme Hospital and I still think Two Point is pretty fun. The one caveat is that it starts off really slow, you have to go through several hospitals before you reach any actual challenge so the start is a bit of a slog.

It has been heavily patched, and I haven't done another playthrough since it was (though I keep meaning to, Battletech is a great game).

Honestly, my advice to you is that we have both a thread and a discord for it. Both are full of Battletech spergs that can answer just about any question you have, big or small, newbie or expert. Plus, we all love giant robbits.

[EDIT] Though having looked at the wiki page, the Campaign Tips themselves should all still be accurate, they're mostly just general "this is how the engine works" type things. The rest look pretty good too, as just general tips. There doesn't seem to be much min/max stuff in there, and that's really the parts that have changed with patching. You should be fine.

Some very minor Dragon Quest 11 stuff:

-DLC/Preorder stuff is unlocked in the Misc. Menu.
-The game autosaves when you zone.
-You can eventually reset your skill points at church. Not only should you play around with different specs, some nodes will unlock bonus skill points.
-Some harvesting points appear only at night. Check your map to see the locations.
-Quests that require peps to complete can be tricky. You can always help trigger peps by beating on your allies with crappy weapons.
-On the final turn of a pep, you will see the aura on the character's portrait begin to fade.
-You might see little bullseye targets around the map. You eventually get a tool later to take these down.
-There's some battles where you are meant to lose. The earliest one is a sudden ambush on a stage taking away your party members except Erik.
-Right after the above battle you are a meant to lose, it's safe to ignore the game telling you to beeline to the next objective and explore.
-The first time you enter the Casino aim to get the 500pt recipe book. Abuse the auto-save feature and move on. Don't bother with the other prizes until the high-stake tables/machines unlock.

I'll likely write up more once I'm deeper into the game. For those stupid bullseyes, I highly recommend this guide: https://www.hardcoregamer.com/2018/09/03/dragon-quest-xi-crossbow-target-guide/309712/

When it comes to quests that require pep with multiple characters: if someone gets pepped up and you want to keep them that way until someone else gets pepped, just change your lineup so that they're in the reserve. This will prevent their pep from disappearing.

You can't mess up. The game has an obtuse path to winning and game over states but it takes place in a finite area and you can turn back the clock if you're stuck. Play it normally until you get frustrated then look up the solution in a guide. That's my advice for basically any classic adventure adventure game.

What I learned so far is:
- things happens in real time, usually regardless of whether you're there to see it or not. Note when and where, and coordinate better next time.
- I can't remember if you got a map of the train, if not, make one. Specifically, note down who lives where (compartment #) so you can find them as needed.
- for maximum enjoyment, read up on the historical context. poo poo's going down as you play and it actually is the last Express before the War.

Got another persona 5 question. Is it possible/feasible to max all confidants out on a single new game plus run?

I'm maybe...halfway through? my first run of the game just beat the futaba palace, and I just realized new game plus was a thing, and that I'm absolutely going to do it, because this game owns, so I'm wondering what the best use of my time is going to be for this current run.

I googled how new game+ works, and I see that my social stats will carry over, but my confidant ranks won't. I'm enjoying the confidant sub-stories but I don't reckon I'm going to finish them all on this run. My thinking is that I'll just focus on maxing out social stats (as much as possible, anyway) on this run, and see all the confidant stories on NG+; is that possible, or is it a dumb idea?

I'm rank 3 on all social stats besides guts, which is 4. I know that rank 5 in all is required to see ~everything~ in confidants, I'm just not really clear on how feasible it is to see all the confidant stuff in a single run. If it's not likely, then I reckon I'll just choose a few best friends to hang out with on this run and pick up the rest later.

It's easily doable on new game+. It's possible to max your first time through but even with some haphazard planning I managed to max out everyone but 2 my first time.

The important thing is getting the fortune teller ranked up to get her confidant boosting ability, and you also want to max the homeroom teacher so you can free up nights after the dungeon. Social stats are the biggest time eaters so on new game+ you'll find yourself with nothing to do in the last quarter of the game.

It is completely possible to do this even without a NG+ at all and do it right on your first playthrough, but let me speak from experience as someone who tried to do the same thing in Persona 4 and tell you that it isn't very fun. You need to follow a pretty tight schedule and will only get to visit dungeons during the plot-mandated sections, which you'll then have to finish in one sitting.

If you want to actually experience the game and enjoy yourself doing it, don't try.

What's important to note is that, while confidant ranks don't transition over, the benefits you get from having max rank do. For example, one confidant, when maxed, will let you do stuff in the evening even if you've visited a palace in the afternoon. If you max this, in NG+, when you get that confidant, you get that ability immediately (though for all other purposes, that confidant will start at rank 1). So you want to max some confidants out, but only the ones you know youll want to benefits of in the next playthrough.
