There’s no such thing as a proper mayo. Get out of here with that aioli nonsense. Brown mustard for all sandwiches.

Ketchup potato chips are actually pretty good. Canada is a more advanced culture. All-dressed chips just taste like paprika to me.

Speaking of spook-em-ups, Nyx saw The Nun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isjiybsY5Us I liked her bit at the start about giving movies a chance before writing them off as cheap cash ins, and I also am a BIG fan of nunsploitation/religious horror stuff. Sucks there's not a lot of 'horror people' on youtube but Nyx being one who seems to actually...ya know...enjoy the medium and not constantly gripe about how modern horror is basically all trash like a lot in the community do, kinda makes up for it.

Here's a pretty ok 24-minute video about the theme song to the 90's X-Men cartoon that really gets into what I guess is the musicology of theme songs, featuring Ollie Thorne/Philosophy Tube as Professor X reading out an extremely 90s opening narration for the show that was written but never used: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbLbEYuDZEA

AriadneThread posted:it's a new lindsey ellis video about the slow and painful grinding of souls into profit Man, the part about the cake channel including producer interaction freaked me out because I had just noticed a similar thing in two separate nail art/education channels. I don't even know if they were temporally related, I just noticed that if I watched older videos on either channel, it was just the host and maybe a silent model, but at some point the cameraman just... becomes a character, I guess. Not gonna lie, I've always had a fairly negative reaction to "Calls to Action" in videos, though I knew it was probably unfair and I couldn't really articulate why. Like, intellectually I know it's the exact same thing as the fast food guy asking me if I want to add a cookie for a dollar, I have no obligation to buy to cookie or smash that like button, and I don't hold it against the fast food guy, so what's the difference? I think this and other videos like StrucciMovies's on parasocial relationships made me realize it probably is that transition from a Person to a Brand/Personality giving me some, I dunno, dissonance. Ordering fast food is a ritualized process, I ask for a thing a certain way, they ask me certain questions, and then they give me thing in exchange for my money. I'm either in my car at the specialized building or inside the specialized building. But with a video, I could be laying in my bed and with most of these more YouTube Personality videos there isn't nearly as scripted a quality to them, so when the Call to Action comes along, it feels weirdly invasive. Like, dude, you invited me into your house to have a chat and now you want to sell me a thing? wait oh my god youtube is a giant tupperware party
