Not really sports, but Gawker is being relaunched by the guy who bought the rights. Instead of Gizmodo Media it's going to be part of Bustle. It'll be run by the former CRO of the Outline, which just laid off half its staff.

Oh and the guy who owns it is a typical silicon valley psycho

Since your post is strangely worded, you mean he bought the Gawker.com name, he did not buy Gizmodo Media from Univision, right?

This is one hell of a story: https://www.golfdigest.com/story/for-valentino-dixon-a-wrong-righted-murder-charge-vacated-by-court-after-serving-27-years-in-prison

The gist of it: a jailed man started sketching golf courses in prison, got attention from Golf Digest, and the magazine helped prove that he was wrongly imprisoned.

It's good for the workers in the industry, since there's more job openings and full-time positions. I'm also not sure there are a ton of superstar guys that are going to make or break readership, readers tend to hate their local beat guys regardless of who it is

In an ideal world the papers would be owned and ran by the reporters and editorial and the other workers there. And not millionaires looking to profit off of others works

We don't live in that world so I don't blame writers for taking a shot at better pay and support with no or less ridiculous deadlines and limits. Even if it eventually falls apart.
