I think his apology demonstrated a will to at least try, which is so much better than the bulk of internet personalities who gently caress up, so it's a good start. It'd break up the Star Wars monotony, if nothing else! Though my own interest in it is more on the lines of finding out about cool details I missed than the "HERE IS THE SECRET MESSAGE!" that I see everywhere. Sometimes, weird poo poo is just weird poo poo, and it isn't meant to have much coherent message beyond "That's pretty hosed up, huh?"

I do believe those games, along with Metal Gear solid and a couple of others, helped bring voice acting in games out of the morass it was wallowing in. It's sad that a series that was so ambitious and had more to try imploded because of studio crap. But not surprising.

Presumably, Crystal Dynamics were also the ones who made Blood Omen 1 playable*, which is why they won the rights to make future games in the series from Silicon Knights in a big embarrassing legal battle after Blood Omen 1's release.

Bryan and Kyle look at Dracula 3000, possibly the worst vampire film ever. It looks like it had a budget of $300, and I love that the tagline is "In space there is no daylight."

Is Dracula 3000 better or worse than Dracula 2000, is the real question.
|
# ? Sep 14, 2018 21:58 |

Define "better." They're both bad, but I think 3000 is way more entertaining. The front page (like, as in, somethingawful.com) review of Dracula 3000 from ages ago was really good iirc. Dracula 2000 is bad in the same way that most Wes Craven projects are bad. Dracula 3000 is bad in the sense that Dracula wears a big dumb Halloween costume on a spaceship and Coolio gets turned into a vampire who loves talking about how much he masturbates.

Judging from the review, seems that Coolio took his role about as seriously as it deserved and was by all accounts the highlight of the thing.

The posters are the most baffling part, unless the work study program is some kind of scam where they need to make up work for the students to do, like designing, printing, and hanging up posters that are only useful for about three hours before replacing them with posters that would never be useful.

I think DHMIS manages to strike a good balance between a sharable video with a coherent joke in them and having stuff below the surface, most of which enhances the videos and makes things more meaningful and are able to be picked up if you're thinking about it. Like it's hard to read when you're casually watching that Yellow gets drugged in the Healthy episode or that the Computer episode shows computers reading your data and making ads, but they're like right there. I hope they can keep that balance, because a lot of the stuff in the trailer looked pretty fantastical with the talking keyblade, the robots, the animated segments, and the technology. Might be doing something very different this time around, especially considering that with how the series ended, but I hope the videos are still sharable.

Yeah, I feel like the videos are less meant to be a coherent mystery box story than a whole that's thematically coherent, without any particular moral or statement. Just a bunch of variations on a theme. Probably the reason I feel so frustrated with the quest for the secret code that reveals the whole story is that it assumes that all art HAS to have a coherent narrative or grand statement, ignoring cases like this where it already does what it does beautifully, without any of that junk weighing it down. (Not that a hidden narrative or a statement are always junk, just it feels really unneeded in this case.) Part of me immediately assumed the new project is a video game, but that's most likely just my current surroundings biasing things. I haven't bothered to look anything up.

Dracula 2000 had a cool spin on dracula's origin . Too bad it was wasted on a lovely early 2000's nu-horror for dumb teens . It also had a baby Gerard Butler .

The thing I’ll always remember about Dracula 2000 never having seen it is that it was released the week before Christmas, or possibly on Christmas, in 2000. It was comforting for me to learn that even adults cut deadlines that close. Also I just looked it up on wiki and the premise is that Van Helsing needs to buy himself decades to centuries of extra time to figure out how to kill Dracula, but it turns out sunlight actually will kill him just fine like in all the stories? Maybe some of that deadline anxiety affected the final cut.

Maybe I'm remembering it wrong but hanging was the secret ingredient needed to make him truly vulnerable, or at least actually killable that way. Mostly I remember that movie because my morning walk to work took me right past them filming it at BCE (now Brookfield) Place in Toronto, the spot with the super-old building with a modern structure built around it.

I didnt see it in almost 2 decades so maybe i hallucinated that part out of boredom . edit : i was almost right which is close enough to being right! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTkSNIvrueA now i gotta question why I cant remember the date, but sort of remember the ending of dracula 2000. admataY fucked around with this message at 20:32 on Sep 15, 2018 |

I actually watched Dracula 2000 and 3000 last week because my life is a mess and both are equally funny for different reasons. I mean 3000 has Coolio and a Party City Dracula on a spaceship, but 2000 has Gerard Butler watching a Monster Magnet music video at a Tower Records and proclaiming it "brilliant." Sure 3000 has Tiny Lister being referred to as being both big and black every time he's on screen, but 2000 has Vitamin C playing the main character's roommate and the soundtrack is entirely numetal. What I'm saying is they are both good as hell.

I really hope this doesn’t generate pages of arguments insisting that she’s a secret lib who secretly pals around with Sargon, as has happened every other time the cat character has shown up. PS I haven’t listened to it yet, but it sounds like she’s also a guest on the latest/a forthcoming episode of Anita Sarkeesian’s podcast, which has a very satisfying sense of closure re: the Dark Mother stuff she moved away from a year or so ago.

Some people really take the catgirl character as a personal attack on their politics. It’s not really unusual for people in left spaces to take disagreement personally like that, but I don’t see it much in youtube videos outside of people accusing Natalie of punching left.

1. I just started watching Contrapoints recently and for whatever reason I find her videos strangely entrancing. Maybe its the mood lighting, the cinematography or the cadence of her voice but whatever it is it keeps me watching. That her politics are (mostly) good is a plus as well. 2. I thought the catgirl thing was a reference to that fight between r/socialism and /leftypol/ where the former banned a socialist catgirl webcomic and the latter denounced/made fun of/went apeshit over it.
