vinyl storage question... I'm hoping to build some very shallow shelves for displaying records in my living room. Would having records in the sleeve at a very shallow angle like this be damaging to them? I figured I'd rotate out what's on the wall every month or two just based on what's in heavy rotation.

this is more or less what I have in mind:

Of course. I will see if any of my DJ friends want them and if not I'll post them here. They really aren't anything good... Crappy synth pop and 80's disco. Most of it is $1 bin fodder. There might be a little gem or two in there but that will just go for paying for the hours of my life I can't get back listening to some of this stuff.

Went to a Devo video retrospective tonight with a Jerry Casale Q&A afterward. Lots of good rambly anecdotes about label execs, Jermaine Jackson, cocaine and fist fights.

My Numark TT1600 turntable has a straight tonearm and I've been meaning to get an angled headshell for it. I'm only seeing a couple of options on Amazon, but I wanted to see if anyone had a specific recommendation. Otherwise I'll probably get this Audio Technica headshell that claims to be universal.

My recent record haul. First up is Vinyl Me, Please:

Gza - Liquid Swords singles box set
Eddie Gale - Ghetto Music
Miles Davis - Sorcerer
Phantastic Ferniture - S/T (thx to the goon who mentioned them earlier in the thread, I got hooked)
Lafayette Afro Rock Band - Soul Makossa

Next is MrSargent's 45 Clearance Sale. Some of these are guiltier pleasures than others:

Aretha Franklin - Eleanor Rigby
Mason Williams - Classical Gas
Joan Jett and The Blackhearts - I Love Rock 'N Roll
Duran Duran - A View to a Kill
Jimmy Smith - Prayer Meetin'
Janis Joplin - Me and Bobby McGee
Roy Brown - The Tick of the Clock
Bill Withers - Ain't No Sunshine
Falco - Rock Me Amadeus
Pat Benatar - Treat Me Right
Earth, Wind, & Fire - Shining Star
The Undisputed Truth - Smiling Faces Sometimes

Lastly here is my VMP copy of Black Sabbath's Paranoid, except without, you know, the actual album. Guess it was a good thing I picked up that used copy from the ReStore after all.

Awesome haul! Glad the 45s arrived safely. I also picked up Sorcerer this month and I really enjoyed it. Got Soul Makossa the first month it was released and it’s incredible, definitely made a couple beats with some of the sick drum breaks.

I finally got my copy of Ye today and coincidentally Nasir also arrived today. The packaging on the Kanye album is about as basic as it gets, but I now have all of his albums on vinyl which is neat.

Ok I don't know if this is still available but I was able to snag one (no idea how). HMV is doing a first ever pressing of Nujabes' Metaphorical Music on vinyl and there is a limited amount available. You have to pay shipping from Japan, but I don't really care since its Nujabes! what looks like pretty generic early 70s LA rock from these cats:

still sealed (though not for long) so we shall see what lurks within

plodding homage album to a recently departed Jimi. nearly all filler but one killer:

naughty soul slab from Sylvia Robinson of sugarhill fame:

nice clean copy to replace my poo poo one

mad jazz/prog-rock with loads of xylophone and glockenspiel, had a nice drum break and a sweet poster!

Yah last month they added a large amount of stuff to the swap list after-the-fact. But with the ROTM announcement, they also noted that the last day to Swap is September 30th at midnight which seems like a LOT less time given than previous months.

Cheetahmen II is a bootleg made for vgm collectors. It came out this past RSD and was available at Bric a Brac in Chicago as well as Super Potato in Japan. The creator sold his leftover copies last week and I picked one up but it won't be here until Monday. It was only $20 shipped and came with some sweet goodies like a Cheetahmen II cartridge pin and some art inserts. The ones sold at Bric a Brac and a few other places included a pretty cool obi, too.
