Is the irish one the same one where Riker and Crusher kill their own half-formed clones? Because having an identical sibling you never need to interact with makes you less special or something?

Oh wait, I forgot about the other half of that story. OK I take it back, that's not the worst episode since the clone colony is a cool premise at least. The rest of it is crap though. I will revaluate my pick for worst episode.

The solution for the clone people not dying out being that they need to start loving the Space Irish doesn't make that episode any better

It was apparently intended by the writer as an allegory for abortion rights.

Any pro-choice message is somewhat undermined by the ending, where Picard and the male leaders of the two colonies work out a breeding plan to ensure their mutual survival without any input from either colony's women...

Pretty dodgy on abortion rights too. Unless they meant abortion rights for men. "It's my DNA in there and I should be able to kill it regardless of what the owner of the vessel it currently occupies thinks."

I always found it odd that a medical doctor had zero qualms about vaporizing what were basically fully-grown clones just waiting for the timer to ding. She just ok’d Riker to euthanize a bunch of 30-40 year olds in less time than it took to decide on breakfast.

Why don't you perform zazen, facing a wall?
Probably not much. Moonves was big on All Access but I doubt they would kill it/move shows off it just because he left. He was also opposed to a Paramount merger so if that gets pushed through now that he’s gone, the Trek IP might get properly reunited. He was hardly big on Trek himself so in theory, someone else who comes in might try to mess around with the content of Disco more than he did. Not something to bank on though.

Not good. Part of the deal is an 18th month moratorium on Shari Redstone and National Amusements (major shareholder in both CBS and Viacom/Paramount) talking remerger.

So expect another year and a half of divided franchises. Imagine if we were in the heady world of the 80s/90s/00s where Michael Dorn could Worf it up on tv and film, Mark Lenard could play Sarek anywhere, etc and weep.

You cannot tell me that Winona Ryder and Zach Quinto, who are both currently on tv series wouldn't at least consider being on DISCO. Or Peter Weller coming back as a Prime Timeline version of Admiral Marcus. But it ain't gonna happen now I guess.

Hah, I saw that. It's not taking itself too seriously and basically spitballing the style of show you could try to make to please as many as possible while also demonstrating the inherent difficulty in actually doing that. However, kurtzman is involved so we'll get the first option *looks morosely into the lens accompanied by tuba fart*

The one with the new character is written and directed by Michael Chabon, which could be interesting. I see they are also letting Rainn Wilson direct the Harry Mudd one.

When it was announced a few months ago, Stewart and Kurtzman were both very clear that only some incredibly broad story ideas had been thrown around and that the series was likely quite a ways away (especially since Kurtzman is the sole showrunner of Disco S2 and he needs to get stuff done to meet his January 2019 airdate).

I hope that this is the reason that the rest of the TNG cast haven't been approached for the series yet. I mean it doesn't have to be TNG take 2 to work as a show but to do a show with Picard and snub the rest of the cast would be a hell of a thing.
