That's a thing that bothers me. There's like one scene where George Harrison gets kind of salty for like five seconds. Most of it looks like they're actually having fun and the rest they just seem kind of tired. I have no idea how it got the reputation for being the gut wrenching document of four guys spewing vitriol. I actually had a conversation with a 60-something record store owner who said he can't even stand to watch the movie. I'm wondering it maybe he just smoked too much weed in the 70s and doesn't even remember the movie. At this point there must be some HD transfer or they at least have a good source for one because a few songs from it were included in the two disc Beatles 1 blu-ray from a few years ago and they were very beautifully restored.

That stuff is already well in effect, though; the Ron Howard doco from a couple of years ago was so sanitised to almost be worthless aside from the concert footage.

I actually like the psychedelic era Beatles's music, but otherwise I don't think they're anywhere as great a band as is always heaped on them. I'll echo this post earlier:

It's a piece of JUNK!
It'll be interesting to see if the new mix of the White Album is "revelatory" or just slightly better. There are definitely some aspects of it that sound a little muddy, but I've always been under the impression that it was intentional. And unlike Sgt. Pepper it actually had a good stereo mix to begin with.

Abbey Road even moreso. I mean, I'll probably end up buying them anyway because I compulsively need the best-sounding versions of these albums. Might skip out on the deluxe boxes though. Depends on if there are actually any hidden gems in there or if they're just official releases of the bootlegs that are already out there.

I know what you did last summer, and frankly I am displeased.
At this point in my life I've already listened to all that stuff like 80 fucktillion times, so I don't feel the need to buy any new reissues ever again. I just want them to put the goddamn movie out on blu-ray.

You know how old people's clothing style seems to get locked into whatever they wore when they were in their 20s or 30s and they stop trying to keep up with the times? Well the other day I saw a guy that had to be close to 60 and he was wearing a chullo hat, baja jacket and cargo shorts, like he'd just crawled out of a Counting Crows video.

This is 100% not true, otherwise most boomers would be wearing bell-bottoms or off-one-shoulder sweatshirts.

On my wife and my very first date about 3 years ago we went to a casino and they were having Def Leppard playing there. It looked like everyone exited their time machine from the 80s to see their favorite band, BUT IN THE FUTURE! Feathered hair everywhere. I don't know what these people do after the concerts are done (besides, I'm guessing, meth).

If its residue on plastic you can use a little orange oil cleaning product.

Nah, it’s the paper slip. I still might try it on something I don’t care about to see if I can do it without ruining it.

It probably will. You could try being very gentle with the foam cleaning sponge thing. Or scrape it with a very sharp scalpel.

Yeah Goo Gone has always worked for me if the paper has any sort of coating, which almost every slipcover does. Just be gentle and go light with it.

I basically just consider slip covers to be temporary buffers that protect the actual case, and if/when they get a bit shabby I just toss them. So I've never worried too much about getting the sticker residue off.

Sometimes you just get it pre worn down by the mail or maybe it was just the last one of the shelf and it's been handled by a bunch of people.

But I do rewatch movies quite often, and all it takes is a little visible nick on the cardboard for me to be like ok that's it in the garbage you go.

Who cares about slipcovers if they're exactly the same as the regular covers? But tossing hardcover dust jackets? You deserve to go to hell for that.

I really like the slipcovers on Blu-rays that come with reverseable sleeves. That way I don't have to "choose" which sleeves to use since I get both with the slipcover (assuming the slipcover is the same as one of the sleeves).

I pre-ordered Indicator's UK (but region free) set of William Castle movies - it has The Tingler, 13 Ghosts, Homicidal, and Mr. Sardonicus.

Looks like they're absolutely loaded. Plus, The Tingler will have the color insert newly restored from a rare 35mm print (the Shout! Factory uses Sony's best surviving element, a 16mm dupe), as well as alternate presentations replicating first-run theaters (with stereo surround effects during the film break) and the drive-in version of that same scene.

Also looks like they're using the multi-angle feature to replicate the ghost viewer stuff on 13 Ghosts instead of including a physical viewer. Which is kind of cool.
