they are experiencing the same issues as newpapers. no one wants to pay top dollar for advertising which is their primary revenue stream and most teams cant get enough sponsor money to break even. you have an ever decreasing amount of sponsors who want to spend less money than before and it costs around $30 million a year per car in the top division notably, nascar itself has right of first refusal when it comes to sponsors so if a team finds a sponsor willing to spend big bucks they can take it for themselves. also there is no kind of revenue sharing between teams the high costs coupled with a rapidly aging core demographic means they are probably hosed
