It's absurdly easy and fun to ruin the Bahaminis' day as Vijayanagar thanks to the missions.

Orissa might be a problem, though.

Basically the random world generator will sometimes give a country the Mechanical Government type, and you'll get a popup about Synths invading. Here are some screenshots shamelessly stolen from the subreddit:

They even get unique units:

An essential part of being human is to feel respect for those who may or may not be deserving of it. But it is equally human to feel painful disillusionment when someone or something you respected turns out to be much less than you thought. But the level of betrayal I felt when Paradox announced their new DLC tore something from me that I'll never be able to recover. They tore away my ability to respect anything, and they tore away my ability to feel human.

I'm playing as Castile in the early 1600s, and I've long since absorbed Aragon. The problem is that I gave Barcelona to France very early on (late 1400s) because I'm an idiot and I didn't know that it was required to form Spain. Any ideas for things I can do to avoid going to war with France for it or is that my fate?

gently caress em, they’ll never willingly give it up. You’re probably in competition with them for colonies and Italian territory anyway. The longer you wait the scarier they’ll get. Get some good allies, bleed their manpower dry in the Pyrenees, eat everything on your side of the Loire and let the British or whoever have the rest.

Wait holy poo poo really.

I've wanted to do a Wallachia game since release and it's always had one of the worst positions in the game.

How? I mean, it also means that they can get their own allies, though the region is not very friendly.

This does make me want to do a Poland run, though. It's been a while.

And the patch borked my Mughals run, too. Grumblegrumble.

Whereas if Moldavia were still a vassal you only had Poland and their allies/vassals as an avenue of attack. More options means more opportunities.

Also, if Poland is getting dogpiled and losing a war, they might be unwilling to honor the guarantee, so you can pounce on Moldavia.

I was doing a run as the Papal States and Poland transmogrified into the Commonwealth and then somehow managed to get personal unions with Hungary and Aragon (which had by that point eaten the entire Iberian Peninsula).

And they're my rival.

It's really easy to keep things together even if Shah Rukh dies on day 1. Use the lenient taxation iqta policy (-15 liberty desire and +1 diplo rep), hire a diplo rep adviser (you should have a half price level 2 one available), and start improving relations with the three most rebellious vassals. Spend your starting prestige to placate Transoxiana - you have a lot of uncontested cores so you're going to lose prestige fast. Wait for your vassals to ask for a royal marriage, but don't ask them. This is important because this way the marriage will persist through the death of Shah Rukh. Set your focus to military and research mil tech 4 as soon as you can, because that gives you a massive power advantage over your vassals which decreases their liberty desire by a lot. Also get diplo tech 4 ASAP to avoid the liberty desire that comes from being behind your vassals. Admin points can be used freely to develop your vassals' provinces. Do this in your core provinces so you won't have to pay extra to annex them. Most importantly, don't go to war with anyone for the first ten years and keep your army at force limit.

Day 1 (whatever the first day you can, Dec 11 I think) declare on Ajam. Your vassals can't declare an independence war while already at war. Take 100% warscore worth of provinces from Ajam - Timurids has cores on all of it anyways. Your vassals' liberty desire goes way down once Timurids relative strength more than doubles.

This. It may take a few reloads until you get an Ajam that has weak allies, but getting all your Ajam cores plus whatever else you can goes a looong way to making your vassals manageable, and at this point you don't need to fear AE. Afte ryou swallow khorasan or another of your medium vassals, you're golden.

Plus if you let your vassals do most of the work it kills their manpower, which is part of the force calculations.

Sephyr

I don't see much point in the Danzig republic event for Poland. It's not like swallowing Teutonics was that hard to begin with, and as a vassal, they are small, don't have too many options for feeding (the rest of the region is either HRE turf or better fed to Lithuania and gotten for free once Commonwealth forms).

What is the current strat for Poland? Keep prestige up to get Moldavia back as march, I guess. Other than that, I'm a bit lost. We get missions to force PUs on Bohemia and Hungary, but in both cases that puts you in conflict with Austria, never a good thing early in the game.

So I'm guessing eat Teutonics as early as possible, ally Brandenburg for help in the neighborhood? Then nab a chunk of transylvania before Ottos do? It's a shame you can't forge claims along the borders of vassals/partners; it would be really nice to get to eat some of Novgorod before Muscovy gets it all.

Not sure about ideas either.

Isn't it? Outside their position as Emperor, Austria doesn't have a huge amount going for them besides alliances, which you can presumably counter with strong allies of your own. The AI is often unwilling to push hard into the surrounding regions, too, so it might be better (if riskier) to try and kill them in the cradle before they can get Burgundy or any nasty unions of their own.

The real risk, to me, seems like it would be "the Ottomans will have one fewer target to consider."

I hope they fix estate generation for the next patch. Having estates start at 80 influence makes it so you can't even do some basic estate interactions without first tanking their loyalty by revoking provinces from them. Portugal starts with every province but their capital and Evora (their worst province) with estates, which doesn't seem right at all. It took decades of constantly pissing off the estates before I could actually do anything productive with them.
