I can’t imagine playing without it. If it makes you more comfortable you can set the Go-tcha to behave exactly like the GoPlus for a week.

People have been using the gotcha since launch, well over two years now, and not one person worldwide has reported any issues with getting banned. To put your mind even further at ease, when you connect the gotcha to your device it simply recognizes it as a "Go Plus", the official accessory. Unless Niantic decides to update their servers/own device to be able to differentiate between the two, I doubt they can tell the difference. And even further, its rumored that gotchas are literally just a modified go plus, so Niantic still gets their cut of the profits with each sale of a gotcha. Thanks to the people who responded to my earlier post regarding seeing my own stats that I can see for friends. I don't get why they don't just let us see those stats from our stats section if they're going to show it normally to everyone else. Also, I think this might be the worst Xatu I've ever seen:

I have one night of work left and then I'm gonna dedicate my Sunday to being a Pokemon master. gently caress walking though. I'm putting up 15 miles a day at work and can't carry my phone so gently caress walking on my days off. Gonna slow roll the local parks and leisurely catch psychic 'mons.

Niantic officially has a rule against third party devices, but it has never been enforced and isn't likely to be. It's possible they'll put something in the code that counts intervals between Go Plus functions, but not only would they gently caress it up and cause weird glitches because Niantic, they would also end up discovering a massove chunk of the userbase uses Gotchas. Especially in the "pay for boxes/passes/incubators/balls" crowd. Seriously, one of my (extremely single) friends has three accounts, his main is at 160 mil XP, 150k catches, and he minmaxes. Both of his alts are nearly to my XP and catches if not already past me, so basically 60 mil XP and 80k catches. He just wears gotchas for all three when we roll places with a lot of stops or spawns. If anyone were going to abstain because of risk, it would be him, and he doesn't worry about it at all. You're seriously fine.
