Dave Ingram is a pretty cool dude. He replaced Barney in Benediction from 1990-1998 and these days he's with Down Among the Dead Men:

I've never particularly liked Dave Ingram's vocals just because they always sound so lazy. He's like the English Chris Barnes. That Downlord album he was on was really good in spite of his performance.

For Immolation:
Close to a World Below
Here in After
Dawn of Possession

For Gorguts:
Obscura is their masterpiece and a hugely influential, dissonant headtrip
Erosion of Sanity is extremely well executed straightforward death metal

The essential Immolation albums IMO are Here in After, Failures for Gods, and Close to a World Below. Atonement, the album from last year, is supposed to be a big improvement over the handful that came before it as well.

Atonement is the third best of the ones since CtaWB imo. Majesty and Decay and Kingdom of Conspiracy are better.

Gorguts is probably my favorite band. Besides the two albums already mentioned:

Colored Sands is loving amazing but way more "modern" than their old stuff.

Considered Dead is really good old school style death metal.

I like all their stuff so you can't really go wrong anywhere, but every album from Obscura on gets weirder and more complex.

Huh, I guess skip it then. Majesty and Decay didn't really grab me and I kind of checked out on Immolation after that one.

Saw Gatecreeper, Genocide Pact, Incantation and Dying Fetus this weekend. Every band killed, Gatecreeper ended up stealing the show imo. If you can catch that tour, do it. The merch is sick and Dying Fetus play a very diverse set.

They come off more exciting live, where you're able to see songs from different eras set up next to each other so you can appreciate how different they are.

Well the purists classify them as a profit band and poo poo on them regularly. I'm just a big fan, and Lars is my spirit animal

A few years ago he said to us "Being evil comes with responsibility, but don't forget to laugh!"

That night I had my first and only (so far) schizophrenic fight club style batshit crazy experience:

It was a small underground venue so we had easy access to the band. I remember being drunk and stoned and holding a big spliff which I'd just lit, and thinking "man how cool would I be if I went over and offered my spliff to Lars", and I sat there daydreaming about it. Then I remember seeing other people offering him weed throughout the live, while I was rocking to the music and everything was fine, but I couldn't help thinking "I wish I had the guts to do that"

Then months later I'm out drinking beers with a friend who was with me at the Entombed gig, and he goes "Dude, how cool was it when you smoked that joint with Lars". Then I realized I actually had done that which I thought I would have done if I were a cool guy, without knowing I did, because my brain had blocked it out Tyler Durden style. Now where's my cult of morons
