Otoh, with just two new cannons on your starting ship you can get tier 3/4 weapons at almost the start of the game.

Pallegina Herald regen tank with mace and shield.

Ydwin using Ancestor's Memory and Pain Block. Gaining focus with a warbow.

PC Wizard mainly killing mobs/crowd control with Black Bow.

Rogue/Wiz Aloth and Monk Mirke on DPS vs mobs.

When the defenses are low enough, I removed concentration with Pallegina chanting Thick Grew Their Tongues before chaincasting Concelhaut's Crushing Doom which locked her down until death. An empowered inner death from Mirke merely pissed her off with 500+ damage and nearly lost me the fight early.

Regarding Godlikes, is it ever elaborated on why Nature godlikes are flowery chill looking dudes but are aspects of the supreme rear end in a top hat Galawain? Based on his beast fetish, shouldn't they all be more like the druid were-forms? Or if you are going all plant based they should be venus fly trap esque monstrosities.

This doesn't scream out Galawain to me?

Ondra gets two different types of godlike, one based of the see and the other the moon. So maybe the gods can create godlike based off different aspects of themselves? Maybe there's a more bestial godlike that's associated with Galawain's hunter thing.

I think they came up with the ideas for godlikes first and then came up with the gods. So the association of godlike to god (the ones available to the player anyway) is based on which of the pantheon X look would best go with

I don't know much about Marx' theories, but wasn't he basically saying that capitalism is poo poo and the biggest threat to mankind, would lead to huge inequalities, etc. ? Because if so, I think that bit is right on the money. It's exactly what we're seeing right now.

It's one of the obvious things he got wildly wrong and it's yet another example of reversing the arrow of causality. Capitalism doesn't create inequality, but it functions better than other systems in the presence of inequality. That's a pleasant property given that inequality is observably an intrinsic attribute of humans (and fantasy races based on them). The various utopian systems like socialism and communism implicitly recognize this, which is why their adherents tend to obsess on changing the state of observable reality to match their preferred fantasy.

Edit: Put simply, inequality naturally increases as a society grows because that's how probability works. Scale is the dominating factor. Inequality grew in the 20th and 21st centuries because the scale of our societies has exploded.
VVV

Edit edit: In the other direction, mass die-offs from war, disease, famine, and so on inevitably reduce inequality until population sizes recover.

We don't really know much about the pre-wheel state of affairs, but evidently the Engwithans thought it was worse than the available alternative. Certainly it's true that contemporary Eoran animancers did not create the system of horrible crimes against the immortal soul that Eothas wants to rectify.

I'm not playing on a high difficulty level but I still like having some idea of what is good and proper team compositition and stuff.

I rolled a pure ranger because pets are cool. So I'm imagining I need some front liners like maybe the paladin lady and the berserker furball then the priest and the wizard for buffs and cc and stuff? Seem reasonable? Anybody got a few words?

E: I don't mind running stuff just based on personality either but I can't include everybody on the first go-round anyway.

Eder's a decent frontliner, unless you make him a pure rogue. Chanters' nice little buffs make them good to have around; I quite like Konstanten and Pallegina as frontline chanter multiclassers, what with the one chanter spell that paralyzes enemies in a cone

So I sorta get the impression that there are varying factions at play and since the quests are marked in the journal as belonging to one faction or another, including things like bounties, that I may have to choose one side or the other? Is this an 'eventually choose' thing or am I going to face consequences for doing bounties of the opposite faction when I try to deal with them?

It's the former. The most impactful choice is quite late. Most things you can do without major consequence. The bounties have none IIRC.

Yeah, it's actually a little annoying how free you are to dabble in each faction as you please. You pretty much don't have to choose until right before the final quest

The legion is a failure both morally and pragmatically, so no, I wouldn't say that. And that's even if you grant for argument that military patriarchy is the best chance for survival in the wasteland, because even if it were they're still failing to build a stable military patriarchy.

It's impressive how many people are going full commiesperg here just from the observation that socialism doesn't scale. All of the successful capitalist/socialist hybrid societies are small countries like Norway, which has population of 5 million.
