A Buttery Pastry posted:The basic issue is that (Continental) European feminism comes from a different tradition than American feminism, due to the very different societies from which they first spawned. American feminism has traditionally been liberal in nature, focusing on issues that are/were important to upper-middle-class white women while ignoring the perspectives of working class or non-white women. A lot of European movements on the other hand have been directly worker-focused since their inception around the start of the 19th century - though conversely, some took an explicitly anti-socialist tack as a reaction. These worker-focused European movements have probably also been more structural in their critique, given their socialist bent. I guess I’m not sure what this has to do with the muted response to sexual harassment/assault in the European film industries so I didn’t understand it as a response to the post you quoted

I’d say “holy poo poo, it’s finally happening,” but I’ve said that about Singer before, only for a few days of bad press to quickly fizzle out. Still, fingers crossed https://twitter.com/deadline/status/1051821267463143426?s=21

Has he got any big movies coming out? I'm not sure what his last project would've been - did he direct the last X-Men?

I will now never forget the name Dexter Fletcher, because his name is Dexter Fletcher.

He also replaced Dominik Diamond for S3 of GamesMaster so he was already a legend in my eyes.

Isn't the actual rule that the replacement director has to reshoot at least 10% of the movie to get credit? I can't imagine it was that little.

Well Singer walked out on like the last two weeks of filming I think, so the movie was all but done. Also, what they won't talk about so much is that Singer was the one in the editing room putting the cut together, not Fletcher. It wouldn't surprise me if the rules were about whose footage was used, not on who shot what.

gently caress Singer. And I don't care what anyone says, Brad Renfro killed himself and I still believe Singer was a key player in what lead to that.

I guess that's "potential money an hour" but also it's an exaggeration whatever way you slice it. But regardless, how loving out of touch do you need to be to toss out a "MY PRECIOUS MILLIONS" statement as a sexual assaulting white male in The Year 2018? I truly feel for Strokey McGingerdick and his poor millions he lost last year. A true hero.

I think the just thing would be to roll back his current net worth to whatever he had at the time that he exposed himself. Then whatever he has left, a large portion of that would go to the victims. Leave him with like, a $50,000 home in a tiny nowhere town and $3000 in savings, and just say "good luck rear end in a top hat". Make him flip burgers for the rest of his life like the rest of us.

I think if it were just one joke it wouldn't matter as much, but he's consistently been an rear end in a top hat throughout the whole situation. If he'd lost a million for every time he gave some equivocating half apology he'd have lost much more than 35 mil.

When you're talking about someone who's worth $50 million, I don't know how sympathetic I'm supposed to be, especially considering the vast majority of people have a net worth of zero.

There's no joke. It's an all too real thing. HTH
