Recoil. Dear god, a recoil mod. I never realized this thing was full auto for some reason. Empties the whole mag in just over a second. With the second gun up, its like a machine gun, but you're gonna be staring at the ceiling before you even get halfway through the clip.

I kinda like yours better. But enjoying the hell out of mine.

Barrel Diff, Hornet, Lethal, Augur, Gambit, Ice Storm and Stead Hands. At least, that is what I'm gonna put on it, after a couple more forma. Thought about dropping gambit for 3 more rounds in mag, but thats kinda stupid.

I have a Pyrana Prime but I can't build it yet. The sadness of an MR12.

I'm gaining new appreciation for the Mara Detron though. Initially I was more eager for the Prisma Twin Gremlins but the more I played around with the Mara Detron it grew on me and might be my favorite sidearm now. It's just missing Jolt and we've got another month on Console before Baro brings it to us. Other than Jolt its so easy/cheap to mod into ridiculousness. A shame its got a lower riven disposition than Pyrana Prime though.

Speaking of rivens, I got a new pistol one for "Level 30+ Defense with no damage to the objective". I'm playing around with Frost currently, and I've got a Gara I could dig up- would that be my best shot at getting through the riven challenge? Mod for range on Gara and just try to keep as much distance between me and the enemy on Hydron as I can?

I just accepted that mines not gonna have the best damage. Dropped what was going to be punch through mod for the recoil. Much, much easier to deal with. Thing fires like its trying to impress a Supra Vandal.

I played Harrow, but I guess I just don't get him. I didn't enjoy the frame and had no real sense of what the hell I was supposed to be doing. Same thing for Chroma right now. His buff duration is soo insanely short, I'm growing frustrated with it.

Gara would be better than frost, in my experience, because her wall is impermeable as long as its intact. Cata/Stasis limbo is also passable with enough range/duration. Then again, I usually just jump into pub runs and it gets completely without much real effort aside from the fastest mass murder I can manage.

sushibandit
Feb 12, 2009

If you're having problems with duration, grab yourself some corrupted mods. Buy dragon key blueprints from the market and start building some of each type, then go on vault runs whenever you see someone spinning up a group on clan/alliance chat. There's also primed continuity, but that's rolling the Baro dice to pick up.

Harrow is one of the few frames where all 4 skills are actually good, and all 4 skills actually need to be used regularly. Maxing out duration on him really helps it keep from becoming too much of a chore.

Chroma's only useful skills are 2 and 3 but the same thing about maxing duration applies.

I'm starting to feel like this game requires too much grind. I don't have the time to play enough to afford these loving things off this rear end in a top hat space trader and do their events.

A) do event and ignore relics
B) do relics, ignore events to maybe buy ducat bullshit.
C) grind lovely materials to build poo poo that actually levels you.

I'm guessing this is the mid game poo poo fest at MR11 and just trying to finish the last bit of the star map too. Haven't even begun to grind amp stuff, or Madurai poo poo or sorties. loving hell.

It's a grind for sure, the question is how much you enjoy the core gameplay, which is extremely polished. If you are someone who likes to click on dudes and do action ninja stuff on its own then the grind isn't a big deal in my opinion. If you aren't a huge fan of that then I'd question if this is the game for you.

it kind of depends how you look at it, i think. there's enough stuff to chase that yeah you could set some goal to grind out and do that and grind something else and grind forever. or you could forget grinding and try to find fun or weird ways to play and enjoy the movement system and combat and eventually end up with a bunch of stuff as a side effect. it's only as much of a grind as you make it, though yeah you have to do it and it's pretty tied to the core gameplay.

edit: ps collecting frames and sentinels helps a lot with the mastery besides unlocking the star chart, they're worth more than weapons.

But yeah, it's a fantastic idea to take breaks. I just popped back in after a few weeks off and used the ducat stuff last night to finish off some lame gear, which meant when both were done, I was free to gently caress off all I liked, goal complete.

The actual problem is the poo poo I want from baro is time gated. I would be more fine with more red viel rep to buy primed continuity on my own time instead of "Holy poo poo he's selling this now! Get your grind in because it'll be 6 months till you get another chance!". Which is a garbage way of doing this for gamedads.

Game play is solid fun though.

its taken me forever to get anywhere cause i hate grinding so id just fart around and go wherever i could shoot a bunch of stuff and get something out of it. missed a bunch of baro stuff, event only stuff, whatever. when i joined the clan it was still void keys so that helped supply a lot of early loot, now theres relics and sorties and ayatans and all sorts of stuff. you can play a little bit at a time and get stuff together, it doesn't have to be a huge grind. i probably could have put together what i have now in a tenth of the time if i was efficient about it but it was fun and now i have almost everything. i think you should play warframe to be a badass space ninja who flips out and kills people and avoid grinding as much as possible.

and as cool as primed mods are they're not really life changing, it's really a small improvement for how much endo and ducats and forma you have to put in. it's always cool to max everything out but it's not like you're crippled waiting for it to come back around.

edit: vvvvv thats another thing i forgot. you can get enough stuff from casual aimless play to sell for enough platinum to buy whatever you want, it's usually faster and easier than fighting the rng to grind the thing out anyway. trading is easy, just use the sites and ignore trade chat.

You can grind stuff that can be easily sold for plat at your own leisure and then use that plat to buy whatever you want that you missed from Baro.

At the same time I'd argue that you don't really need anything from Baro until you're at the MR20ish level and even then it's more of a want rather than need thing.

The only thing you -need- from Baro is Sands of Inaros because that frame rules. Everything else is totally optional.

The community has latched on to primed mods and rivens as just 'de facto' gear and I think that's a huge detriment to newer players.

You dont need any of that stuff to be a pure murder machine and successfully engage in all levels of content. The prevalance of it it videos and posts though adds a level of pressure that "dont you see this? your build is poo poo until you grind X amount to get this"

I'm trying to do this at the moment, but they keep having special events with unique loot and giving away catalysts and stuff.

I've been mostly not playing much these last few weeks and didn't top up any plat this month, so those bastards at DE threw me a coupon and tricked me into an easy sortie today which gave me a three day affinity booster. :argh:

Yeah, primed continuity is just more effective than normal continuity, so powers will last longer / do more damage, but I can't think of any builds that absolutely will not work without the primed / umbral / corrupted version.

There's more than a few builds where the whole concept is hitting a certain break-point with particular stats, so in that sense you do "need" those mods.
You can however just run around the star map with Rhino using only mods that drop + a Hek and have almost no issues, so "need" is always highly subjective.

It's on the person to be playing a looter and not get gear envy IMO.

I can sort of see his point, like I think there was one build Dahbadu (I think) was breaking down where Power Strength needed to go over a certain point, which would negate 100% armour, which would make using a Viral main the most effective. Or something like that.

But usually the primed / umbral version just gives you more damage / duration / armour and exaggerates the build's effectiveness. Corrupted mods are a different story but generally all they do is sacrifice something you weren't using anyway to give you even more ridiculous numbers.

90% of the builds don't need specialist mods, you can get the basics from alliance chat or running void secret rooms from Maroo.

Mimesweeper

the primed mods are incremental improvements at best, the corrupted ones are insane game changing monsters that open up so many busted builds for a bunch of frames, but even with none of that you can kill all the stuff. it's cool to have it and chase it but don't forget to have fun.

Primed Mods are what you use if you're routinely fighting level 200+ enemies. Not doing 2+hour survival missions? Don't worry about 'em.

Honestly it's the same with CorPro. I know the forum likes to scream and holler about it, but until you get to at least 150 enemies you're really not going to notice THAT much of a difference.

Just remember: Warframe is really easy, and the only way the devs can think to make it harder is to artificially inflate numbers. Until you get to the point where the numbers start inflating exponentially, you're really not doing anything different from back on Earth. (Though once you do get to the point of inflation, you ABSOLUTELY need it. At high level enemies start getting literally millions of points of effective health in armor.)

the math on auras is opaque but that doesn't make you correct, but I don't want to get into it. suffice to say there's actual factual evidence of what it does and then there's your "subjective feel"

it is not made easy by "50% x" and "50% y" sometimes being an order of magnitude different depending on where in the calculation x and y are inserted, however

that aside: i do agree that primed mods are definitely an endgame chase, both acquiring them and then getting the 1m+ credits and 40k+ endo to max them out, along with all the frames and weapons you need to forma, sometimes multiple times, to fit those mods
