 Earlier today, at roughly 11am, someone apparently sheared off a sprinkler head in our apartment complex and set the fire alarm off for a full hour. This is not an uncommon occurrence. Typically, Zipper goes and hides in my bathroom behind the toilet when it goes off and cowers. Today, after scores of re-starts that made the “SOS beeps” go constant instead of 3-per-beat, I decided “Let’s see if Zipper has the right idea.” Zipper is so smart, you guys. I turned on the fan, closed the door, and while it wasn’t silent, it wasn’t piercingly loud in the bathroom. We stayed in here until the ear-splitting alarms were off for good. We don’t deserve dogs. But they sure are great. I gave Zipper an extra big biscuit.

 Took Lando hiking today! He’s made good progress on his goal to sniff every leaf, pee on every tree and chase every squirrel in our favorite parks. It’s been almost a year since we brought him home and I can 100% say that my life is so much more fulfilling with him in it. I hope I can always plan my days off by asking the question “Ok, what would be a fun activity that will tucker Lando out and make him more snuggly in the evening?”

Jade isn’t feeling well so she’s snuggled up to me for the night.  Tarkus, on the other hand is enjoying uninterrupted use of the chompin’ stick, but he still checks in on his sis every now and then.

Ok so I have been talking with someone I lived with for a few years and we are looking to find a place where I can get a dog. I want to make sure I'm the best owner he or she can have. I think I will look at rescues, does anyone have any resources they consider must-reads or anything they wish they knew before they became an owner?

Hung out with the most emotionally needy dog in the world tonight. He starts whining the microsecond you stop petting him; after enough petting, he rolls over for belly rubs. My arm is pretty tired by now.
