The russian dude is one of his coworkers at his company (together with the Deva King Ohma beat up in the first chapter) and the guy he sliced apart on the boat tournament is fine and currently spectating the main tournament.

Ivan (and Komada, who Ouma beat) now work for Rihito's company and they get along pretty fine. There was an omake about the three of them. EDIT: That'll teach me to leave a post for like thirty moments to do something else.
