Makes sense to me, Fiji are a lot scarier when they can chuck it about at will. If you know the rain is due then wait for the rain before you open the game up.

Very good win by Scotland, some great tries scored as well. Ritchie good, Skinner good, Strauss good.

Who's the England captain now? Farrell? No England players have spoken to the ref as captain all game. Read's probably invited him to his New Year's barbecue, he's been talking so much.

It was the most English of victories for the All Blacks.

I think this might be the first time since 2004 that the All Blacks won despite scoring fewer tries than their opponents.

When Schmidt left for Ireland, there was plenty of public good will. Gatland left acrimoniously, lying about how the NZRU passed him over for a Super Rugby team (he wanted the Chiefs, but Foster had just been re-appointed, so he was offered the Highlanders instead).

I'm just enjoying all the English saltiness. The All Blacks set a deliberate trap in the rucks by dictating the offside line on either side in accordance to the laws as they were changed after Eddie Jones' tantrum after that Italy game where the Italians refused to engage in any ruck, negating said offside line. England got caught up by the very law their coach threw a hissy fit about and got changed, and now they're whining about how unfair it is. Why don't you try and have the law changed again, you loving crybabies.

Eddie Jones, to his credit, has been gracious in defeat, but he'd have to be because he knows it's a result of his own campaigning this time last year.

South Africa are way better than their 5th place ranking would have you believe, and the fact that a lot of these guys went through the shocker of a year that was 2016 has ended up benefiting them greatly. Case in point: Faf de Klerk was a mediocre, undersized halfback at test level in 2016, now he's easily one of the best at that level.

Disappointing but can't argue too much with the score line in the end. Scotland had enough ball but just didn't do enough with it.

Is anyone looking at the NZ v Ireland game, because right now I'm seeing a lot of All Blacks conceding some serious strings of penalties. It's crazy, almost half time and the score is 9-6 as of writing this post.
