No picture, but I saw a young American robin singing a very intricate song, then doing a poop and flying away. I'm sure it's an omen for something.

New visitors to our neighbourhood today. Was woken up this morning by Channel Billed Cuckoos. They are migratory birds that come down to Australia from New Guinea every spring and summer. They are loud. Very loud. But then all Aussie birds are noisy. They lay their eggs in the nests of Magpies, Pied Currawongs and Crows and their chicks hog all the food. Found this video of some with bonus 'sad trombone' call from a Raven at the end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFCr_D8n6io Helith has a new favorite as of 01:08 on Nov 15, 2018 |

Bert Roberge posted:How do you guys get any sleep down there? Serious answer. You get used to it. When we first moved here we found it really noisy, we come from the UK where houses are generally pretty well insulated and window are double glazed for the most part, so very little outside noise is heard inside. In Australia we found no difference in noise levels with the windows open or closed and gradually the bird noise becomes familiar background noise. When I went back to the UK to visit family I really missed the Aussie bird noises and found my families homes too stuffy and quiet.
