Just received the wonderful stuff that Highme arranged for earlier. I had a question for folks who have used Smith helmets and the associated audio chips. Is the proper way to use them to remove the fabric/foam from the ear muff/cover portion, or do you slide the chips in in front/behind of the foam? If the foam stays in does it matter if the chips go between the foam toward the head or between the foam and outside of head?

I've got a 50/50 record the six times I've been of it being good, so I figure whenever I go it'll just dump powder the second I leave anyway.

I skied today. Very nice at keystone. Good snow and zero lift lines. It was very strange for November. Hopefully good things to continue!

Getting deep AF in Revvy, meanwhile cold enough to walk on lakes on the coast but barely 20" total coverage up there. I'm leaving for the Rockies in three weeks.

Aspen can have some pretty exciting landings too. Last year I think someone landed next to the runway, but once again everyone was ok. On Sunday we landed on one wheel and hung there for about 3 seconds, but it's ok, I'm still alive

https://imgur.com/CS68Y6a Finally got my hands on my new skis!! Very excited for these, especially how cheap they were, and also hopefully not sinking up to my nipples in anything vaguely resembling powder. I’d eat rear end for some snow right now. Just casually training on the same hill as Lara Gut... We got 20cm over the course of the day yesterday, which was pretty fun for a while, even on GS skis, until it got pretty chopped up and kind of weird.

I didn't but I hear from one of their old timers that the new gondy timeline is Christmas-ish.

Disinterested posted:I didn't but I hear from one of their old timers that the new gondy timeline is Christmas-ish. Haha yesterday Vail announced that the new gondola on Blackcomb isn't going to be ready by opening day like they've been promising since forever, including as recently as like a month ago. They're now shooting for December 14th. It's kind of a joke here because as soon as they announced what they were doing literally everyone was like "lol not a loving chance". The lack of that gondola also means that Blackcomb is virtually unskiable until there's enough natural snow to go up to the alpine (where there's like 20cm right now) so the extra crowds on Whistler are going to be super fun.

It really wasn't bad though. Wore my Trew stuff for the first time, it obviously didn't get tested in any way. It does seem to let a bit more wind through than what I wore last year. On the flip side, I kept the jacket on for the ride home and to get coffee and never got hot and it's 60 degrees today.

The freezing level remains above 3000'. The frozen lake I walked on a week ago has probably melted, and the 1.5' of snow with it. I was already slaying blower pow this time last year.

I'm super excited for the beginning of the northeast/midatlantic season. I've dropped from 240 lbs at 35%+ percent body fat last season to 150 lbs at about 8% now so it's going to be interesting to see how all my snowboards ride when I'm 90 lbs lighter. Landing jumps is going to be way way easier on my body now though.

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to it. Only minus is having to wear a better midlayer now that I don't have a thick layer of natural fat like a walrus to keep me warm.
