Yeah, and then you combine that with people getting hit in the head while they're dehydrated and it does EXTRA sPEcail super brain damage. You basically have to assume that athletes will do as much as possible for short term benefit even if its terrible for their long term health and protect them from themselves. There's been a lot of steps towards monitoring people competition weights vs their weight class to try and cut back on it but it's a complicated thing to enforce.
