Not terrible. It depends what your goal is. It's not quite how I'd build Valkyr but IDK what your goal is.

Steel Charge is a valid choice until you start regularly fighting level 100+ enemies in group content. If you're not doing that on the reg, don't sweat it.

If you are doing that, or if you regularly do group content with goons who will have an absolute shitfit if you don't have corpro, reforma your aura to a dash and de-level one of your umbral mods (probably fiber) so you don't need the 4 points you're gonna lose.

Please don't do this :smith:

Use whatever you want in solo mode, but please be a good Tenno and contribute to the team by bringing Corpro to any and all team content above L35. Armor is the strongest damage mitigation enemies in the game have access to.

if you put corrosive projection in that slot you might lose an umbral mod but you'll gain a significant amount of damage because it won't be reduced by armor as much.

So I'm a bit of a crazy person and last year I decided that I wanted to organize my loadouts so that I always had easy access to a build for whatever I was doing. At that time I had 19 slots, so I listed out all the types of content in the game and assigned slots to everything. Now I'm coming back for my annual Warframe binge and there's been a lot of new stuff added (ESO, Arbitrations, Fortuna, etc), as well as a BUNCH more loadout slots (I have 26 atm, could buy 8 more if I needed). I've made a list of all the types of content that I can think of, but I thought I'd post it here and see if you fine folks could think of anything I missed:
  • Bounties: Plains of Eidolon
  • Bounties: Orb Vallis
  • Eidolon Hunting: Damage (Chroma/Rhino)
  • Eidolon Hunting: Shield (Volt)
  • Eidolon Hunting: Support (Harrow)
  • Eidolon Hunting: Heal (Trinity)
  • Sortie/Kuva Flood General
  • Sortie/Kuva Flood Defense
  • Sortie/Kuva Flood Escort
  • Group ESO: AoE
  • Group ESO: Support
  • Solo ESO
  • Normal Starchart General (separate from Sortie/Kuva because much lower survivability requirements)
  • Normal Starchart Defense
  • Farming: Drops (Nekros)
  • Farming: Credits (Ash? Index farming)
  • Farming: Focus (Equinox)
  • Farming: Fishing (Volt)
  • Farming: Mining (Zephyr?)
  • Farming: Conservation (Ivara)
  • Farming: Affinity (leveling weapons, Rhino or Octavia)
  • Spy (Ivara)
  • Interception (Solo interceptions, Mirage/Loki?)
I've got multiples of some types (sortie/kuva flood general, normal starchart general, etc) so that I can switch things up. But in terms of the types of content there is to do, is there anything I've missed? Maybe Endo farming, although do people still do the Grineer arena endo farm? Should I make specific builds for Arbitrations or would those get covered by builds suitable for ESO/Kuva Floods?

I know jumping in front of the goon corpro train is an exercise in futility, but if his build is intended to optimally solo certain content with a melee Valkyr, Steel Charge is better than Corrosive Projection. Both by itself and in that it allows for enough space for a full Umbral build. If he is trying to make a build for generic stuff or group content, of course he should have the dash aura*, but for solo Steel Charge is potentially better for his build.

*technically for organized group play, using Power Donation against non-armor enemies or with a large AoE armor clear like Frost or Oberon is more optimal but that's getting pretty niche

Reread what I said. It depends on what the build is trying to do. The fact is that if his build is specifically trying to solo certain high level endless content with a melee Valkyr build, Steel Charge is better than Corrosive Projection. That's not up for discussion. It's a fact based on the mechanics and numerical values of the game.

Of course CorPro is better for a generalist build! No one is arguing with that, unless one mildly snarky reply from the original questioner counts as an argument. The problem with all this is that he hasn't actually elucidated on what his build is intended for. I'm assuming that he wants to do high end solo content, because that is what the build he posted would be best for. However I don't actually know that. That is why I qualified everything with "if the build is for x/y". It all depends. Until Crono S. Magnum speaks up again and actually tells us what he wants to accomplish it's all pissing in the wind. I just wanted to point out that CorPro isn't actually the be-all/end-all Aura in absolute terms. It just is in practical terms, for most players.

Yeah, defense is stuff like Frost/Nyx/Gara that can do unique defensive things or large scale lockdown. So that covers Excavation and normal group Interceptions. Do people not do the Fatal Teleport Ash thing in Index anymore? Did it get nerfed? Thanks for the response though! Once I start implementing all of these it's annoying to have to go back and fix it. They have to be in proper order!

FileNotFound posted:

My point is that different builds are for different things and CorPro isn't universally best at all things, it just the best "set-it-and-forget-it" aura because of how strong it is in general group play. Why is that so difficult to accept? That is literally a fact. CorPro is only numerically the best aura if you are fully stripping armor off of heavily armored units (heavier Grineer/Corrupted units and very little else, light armor actually becomes a damage bonus depending on your damage type, hence 3x CorPro on Eidolons for the Rad bonus) which you obviously cannot do if you are soloing. So if it's a solo build (and shock, people do make those!), it's not the best aura. You probably know this and yet insist on arguing the point for some reason. Why? It's not going to magically make people bring CorPro in your groups if they weren't going to already.

Anyways, if you want to get into the minutiae of optimizing for endless arbitration survival as a melee Valkyr or whatever, you probably want Arcane Guardian x2 (maybe Grace but you probably just pop into Hysteria for a quick instant heal), but that's a pretty deep rabbit hole that is largely tangential to my point. You largely take Steel Charge for the extra points allowing you to cap the Umbral mods, not necessarily for the damage bonus (melee damage scales just fine on it's own).

I'm done with this tangent for now though, there's nothing more to be added until he actually speaks up and says what he wants the build to do.

Nobody is arguing with you that Corpro is better for solo. Nobody.

Steel Charge outperforms corpro solo in every case. No argument.

The reason goons are throwing a fit is that it's basically a difference of a 60% dmg boost vs 40% damage boost solo.

The trade off being that you just made a frame sub-optimal for groups to get that extra 20% damage when solo.

It's a poo poo trade to me - but hey if you are trying to min max for solo - it's the right call.

You can look at the damage bonuses against whatever types of enemies you're planning to kill and switch out elemental damage to take advantage of their weaknesses, but if you don't have a full mod collection that's not going to be possible. There are 3 ways to increase your damage through mods.

+% damage mods are the first way. These are the Serration, (Primed) Point Blank, Hornet Strike, True Steel mods.

The second way is +elemental mods. There are a few different types, but the most commonly used ones are either the straight +% damage type mods and the +60% damage/+60% status chance mods (these are much rarer). If you have different elements in one weapon, you'll get a special element type like corrosive or magnetic, which deal extra damage or bypass certain health types.

The third way is through +multishot mods such as Hell's Chamber, which add more bullets per consumed ammunition. The Hek has a special mod for it as well called Scattered Justice, which adds more multishot to the weapon.

Ask in the goon alliance if someone has copies of these mods if you don't have them. Many of the rare mods you probably won't have due to low drop rates.

From there, you just slam endo into the mods and melt things in your path.
