I do trig routinely at work, and back in school vector calc was rad as hell. Ask me about quaternions (don't actually this is PYF).Dagen H posted:Everyone hates Ohio.

People rag on Ohio but at least Ohio is notable for something, even if it's for being a lightening rod for insults. Ohio has personality. People can't even be bothered to make fun of some places, like Iowa or South Dakota or Delaware. And yes, the Ohio Defender has logged on.

Oh gently caress I'm having a PTSD flashback to "Boundary Value Problems" in undergrad....loving 12 pages to solve a single problem because your single differential equation gets broken into separate equations of a single variable and each of those has a whole class of possible solutions based on assumptions about the sign of a constant and Speaking of topology, currently teaching myself tensors properly for the first time, we always just hand-wave those away in a lot of physics courses. I was trying to finally tackle some general relativity and it turns out properly understanding tensors is no longer optional. It sounds a lot scarier than it is, though, I have no idea why they couldn't include this in the graduate classical mechanics course....would have made electrodynamics and quantum mechanics a hell of a lot simpler. Really the worst poo poo was discrete math, which was extremely common in statistical mechanics. drat you Grand Canonical Ensembles Alright I'm done nerding out over math. Here's a related funny picture, though.
