Interestingly, I've heard chatter on a couple of other sites that during the model/toy reveal, the folks working on the movie said that Mothra was the most challenging kaiju to design for King of the Monsters. Apparently, they wanted to keep Mothra recognizably Mothra, but they also wanted to make her look and feel legitimately dangerous - not as outright terrifying as Rodan or Ghidorah, but you're meant to see Mothra and immediately understand that this is a being every bit as primeval and powerful as the others. Problem is, Mothra is fundamentally a giant moth, and moths aren't the most formidable creatures in the world. The distinctive eyes on her wings were a big part of trying to make Mothra an intimidating presence, and she was given claw-like legs specifically so she could do more than flap her wings and fire energy stuff. The Mothrapillar will apparently be making a small appearance in the movie, but supposedly they wanted Mothra herself in full to be the character's main attraction.

Considering how legendary is going all in on updating the old designs and using the original theme music, I really want to hear their version of Ghidorah's evil chittering roar. It's creepy enough as it is, but with Hollywood level sound design it could be downright terrifying.
