Charlie's Secret is halfway decent for a Christmas special, slummed down by its bewildering subtitles. I like that late in it, the homeless guy has a great line delivery that even Bridget and Mary Jo appreciate.

I finally got to watch the first episode of Stranger Things and the Riff wasn't enough to prevent me from getting really angry at the show.

I watched Charlie's Christmas Secret to calm down, which I can actually recommend, the first ten minutes are completely over the top Depressive capitalism land and there's a jaunty little electronica rendition of an Xmas tune in the department store.

Its two hours of a burning fire place with the TV next to it playing bits from various christmas riffs (very few new) with the cast singing some carols and then a slowly evolving cute audio only storyline of everyone coming together to celebrate christmas dinner together and just so so much blood.

I just found it to be highly formulaic and lazily written and directed.

Directors everywhere beware: loud dramatic music does not a drama make.
Also are allowed not to keep entire scenes in which nothing actually happens.

also Two kickass martial artists on the cast and not a single action scene is the worst decision ever.

There are some good jokes but yeah the movie itself is very boring and other than the premise isn't really ridiculous enough to be much fun.

Finally got to Balloon Land:stonklol: I was not prepared.

Around the middle part it lulls you into believing you've seen everything it has to offer, but as Pinhead likes to say "You ain't seen poo poo boyo!"

TCC and armchair psychologists are going to debate the narrator's mental state for decades to come.

You've got to admit, you are kind of implausible

Just watched "Fun in Balloonland". I was not expecting 45 minutes of parade footage. Loved the generic balloon floats. They were so generic that they had to have people carrying signs in front of them explaining what the balloon was supposed to be.

Also watched Bridgit and Mary Jo's riff of "Angel's Revenge". Man, MST3K cut a lot out of that, including a montage scene!

muscles like this!
Jan 17, 2005

Something I found very strange about Angel's Revenge is how during the drug compound attack it seems like they never actually kill anyone but then at the end for the big action sequence they're shooting fools left and right.
