These guys didn’t do a few years for pushing dope and now they got kids, bills, no skills, and a record. Garofolo can cry what about the kids all day while CK’s poor daughters go to Ivies with no debt and find themselves by spending a year in Europe on a never ending ecstasy high. No one is denying these guys a livelihood, their jobs are just hobbies. They don’t deserve a moment of pity

There was a whole ep of Bojack Horseman about how if anything leading men get endless second chances as soon as the heat dies down, even when it's obvious they have no desire to change. (The titular character is a more complex case)

Comedians like CK to nothing but whine about how entitled other people are, but the moment you don't think everything they do is wonderful, they sure do feel entitled to your laughter and admiration.

That poo poo rubs off on other people, where a decent chunk of a potential audience going 'well, now I have no interest in this comedian's work' is equated with deliberately ruining their career. As if the work of CK was so loving compelling that the only reason you'd avoid it is out of spite.

The details are weird and sketchy, the venues deny accepting the bookings and Kelly tweeted that the announced tour was "fake" but the local promoters swear the contracts were in place.

I mean, if he did go to Australia there's a non-zero chance that one of the dozens of animals that regularly poison and murder people there would get him. Maybe a funnel web spider would bite him on the dick in his hotel bathroom.

Silly R Kelly, coming here as a black entertainer. He should have come as a neo-nazi speaker, then he probably would have got in. R Kelly is horrible and Australia is also horrible. It's just, weirdly, they've managed to line up.

Essentially, it's just that the Australian government is terrible, and even when it does the right thing, it's probably doing it for the wrong reasons.

sometimes you've got to workshop a joke for 20 years in various green rooms before moving it onto the audience testing stage. when it's the centerpiece of his new Netflix special i guarantee it'll be what Mr. Jay Leno calls "yucktastic." i've listened to podcasts about bill hicks AND lenny bruce so i know a lot about comedy, it's just how the "funny formula" goes.
