HA! HA! NICE! WHAT A TOOL!
I think the idea of RE4 progression is that you go from beating low-level workers (chief mendez and plagas villagers), to middle management (salazar), to the really important people (saddler and krauser). Giving Krauser a connection to Leon makes him more important.

Exactly, having Krauser be someone from the alluded to 6 year gap helps give that "missing" period some weight, let's him also have a connection Wesker and keeps him around for any game that might have taken place during that missing time should they have decided to.

The devs of RE4 were visionary evidenced by them programming in a response to looking at Ashley's undies. A leap in technology that was not matched until GOAT Nier: Automata.

It's just so weird, because they present it like 'hey, here's that character from way back when!'. Not even Ada, an ACTUAL character from before, seems to get that. She comes off as just some mysterious character. Anyway, whatever. I like Krauser, I just don't see why they didn't make him new to Leon as well.

It was really good story telling I thought. Leaving things unsaid but building up an air of super competence.

You had to meet Ada to understand why Leon turns down Ashley's request for a date.

Responding to the Satisfye talk a few pages ago: it's a great grip but keep in mind the regular case is huge. Like more of a small bag than a carrying case. There is a 'slim' case but it's still a bit bigger than the Skull one. Unfortunately it isn't as well designed as the Skull case since it doesn't use all the internal space how it could (more straps/bags). Despite that I'm still using it since I like the grip better than the Skull grip and the Satisfye grip won't fit in any case but the ones they make.

What's weird about that is that I first rented RE4 on the Wii while also renting Hot Fuzz for the first time. Top tier weekend for 16 year old me, thanks for listening

Leon's life is so crazy re6 starts with him having to kill his zombified best friend who happens to also be the president and it only escalates from there
He cannot be near a vehicle without it crashing and exploding, not necessarily in that order

I think part of the fun of RE4, and why a lot of people replay it is that it’s fun to go back in with a new game+ file and just completely body chainsaw guys and big baddies at the start of the game you used to have to panicky run from. Like the feeling of power of going into the first village with a fully upgraded Leon to basically commit a war crime, compared to having to fight toothy and claw with a pistol and the shotgun you find the first time around, is pretty amazing

I hope RE4 Switch has gyro aiming. That would put it above the motion aiming on the Wii one.

Back then, escorting Ashley was miles ahead of any comparable escort quest of the time. Enemies generally just wanted to capture her so you didn't have to monitor her health that much. If you fired in her direction she'd duck out of the way. If she was close enough, she'd cling to Leon's back when you fire so she's both protected and out of the way. This was a big deal every review took care to mention.

You could also make her hide in a dumpster and, considering the kind of stuff they leave out, I shudder to think of what they were throwing away.

I'm just never going to like escort missions. There's pretty much no reason for them. You should always have the option of "Hide here the whole time" and then go get your escortee when you're done.

Clowning around with the armor owned.

lmao

Ashley's only ever a liability in a small handful of setpieces, otherwise she's out of the way and mostly there to add more flavor to the game

Gunman Clive HD Collection is out on Switch today. If you're into Megaman style side scrollers, this will probably be up your alley. Cool aesthetic, and the games are a nice length.

It's pretty amazing to have a company release any sort of shooter on the Switch without gyro aiming. I know it keeps happening but I'm always sitting here wondering how disconnected from your customers you are when that question is always asked.
