I mean surely a chunk of it is on Trank since he was directing, but yeah a lot of the stories felt like weird smear stuff. Like apparently Josh Trank has dogs so powerful they caused like $50,000 in damage to one of the producer's houses (did they like, eat part of the foundation?) and that Trank spent the latter parts of the shoot completely unresponsive and in a tent?

Though wasn't Kinberg the guy who did all the reshoots and editing? Maybe I'm making that up but I remember there being a big thread here back in 2015 about what went wrong with FF and I feel like that got mentioned there. Though in any case, Trank doesn't seem responsible for like half the movie, or how it got edited.

And I should point out that I'm not even that big a fan of Trank. I'm probably one of the few people who thought that Chronicle was just fine. But I do think there are bits of Trank's original idea for FF in the actual movie, and those are the most interesting parts.

I didn't realize Kinberg himself did the re-shoots, uh, WOW yeah he definitely has dirt on someone. Trank even tranked ( :haw: ) his career with that tweet where he disowned the movie right before it came out.

Speaking of which, something else I forgot about is Trank said the script he originally signed on to direct was more lighthearted and straight up had Mole Man and other villains like that in it. :wtc: Such a weird production and part of the difficulties on set was how a year later when everyone rolled up to actually get production proper started they had a drastically different script.

Looking it up it seems it was $100,000 which is pretty impressive even for dogs. :aaaaa:

I'm not seeing anything in that teaser that's stylish or much different from the Batman and Robin color-keyed character promos. I'll chalk this up to me having bad opinions, but even those brief character teases at the start look like they're shot in Bad Softcore Pornovision.

Yeah, the teaser itself doesn't look very good, like the way it's lit and shot looks bad. But I like that Harley is dressed like a RHPS fan.

I also enjoy how the whole turn in the third act hinges on comic book panels.

This movie was clicking with me since frame one, but there is some rad comic book panel framing going on. Especially during the scene where the other main characters show up, and we see them arrive, shot through the different window panes.

The Joker teaser-that’s-really-just-a-costume-test did really well on the internet, so it makes sense they’d wanna do it here too. With that in mind, I do love the new designs. And I agree the lighting sucks but if that editing and song (even if it’s licensed) are any indication of where this movie’s going, I’m down.

And I love that title. It’s such a weird thing for someone to like about a movie, but what a good title.

I bounced hard off of Aquaman because I hate his post-Whedon characterization and I have no hype for Shazam for the same reason, but Birds of Prey is definitely exciting.

The first scene in the movie is pretty much unbearable as Jason Momoa all but winks at the camera (I dunno he might have literally winked at the camera at some point, he was obviously mugging) and has like three quippy double entendres in a row, but it felt like that was dialed back a bit for the rest of the movie.

I mean I love the guy but even then it was a bit much.

Speaking of DC things with weird/bad trailers, the Netflix 'Titans' show is loving dope. I haven't finished it yet, but it's pretty drat exceptionally made.

Yeah, he's quippy with people he's effortlessly clowning on, which is basically just the beginning of the movie, and that superior attitude is something he pays a price for.

There was no single source for all that info, I had to open up a bunch of tabs on the changing release dates for Dark Phoenix, New Mutants, Bohemian Rhapsody, Alita: Battle Angel and Once Upon A Deadpool and cross reference them to figure out all that.

The Wikipedia pages for each movie have the basic info on the shifting dates but you have to check the footnotes and follow up on the linked primary source articles for a slightly clearer picture.

Butt first, let's

I assume the DC app gets you access to comics the way the Marvel one does? That's the only way that thing makes sense to me unless you REALLY love DC Animation.

I mean, some day when they've racked up a few seasons of a few shows I'll subscribe for a month and knock them out. But I can't imagine being a monthly subscriber unless you're getting access to comics.

The original Big Tuna.

It's a curated selection of comics, often tied directly to the programs offered on the app. Not the giant archive fans would hope for, but useful for getting up to speed on how a character came to prominence or a popular story arc.

Annual DCU sub is $6.25/month, with a new episode of something coming out every Friday, along with new and old animated movies. The service is an acquired taste, but I've gotten decent mileage out of it so far. Titans was decent, first half of Young Justice S3 was great, I even won a sweepstakes for movie tickets. YMMV

By the way, in Young Justice season 3, Beast Boy is a famous actor but he has a mental breakdown in his episode and thus:

Ironically this happens after they are off Cartoon Network. Also shows you how dark they can be with now that they are on streaming. And yes, Beast Boy is voiced by Greg Cipes like in TTG.
