Maybe if I try to draw wonky lines they will come out straight.

Thanks for the suggestions, trying drawabox.com now

Also if I was interested in academic art I would have already passed away from knowing I can't come close to being good enough or smart enough or whatever enough. I just want to draw straight (ish) lines. Except for when I don't

Does anyone use cobalt violet in oils or other media? If so, how does it perform as a pigment? I was thinking to pick some up but wasn't sure if it would be worth getting.

e: Also, if you use it and like it, what brand do you use?

OK, not too sure where to post this request, but would anyone in here be willing to jump on over to the AUG thread in PYF to help a few of us goons design a joke tattoo for a goon to get?

Here's the post chain that lead to it for inspiration:

DandyLion posted:

gently caress that. Dry orgasms all day every day.

titties posted:

I will get this tattooed on my loving flesh at a really bad local tattoo place if y'all pass around the hat and come up with enough to pay for it

Zipperelli. posted:

Lmfao. Get it priced out. I want it on your lower back like a tramp stamp, and in large enough size that you can see it from a distance. None of this reeeeeeally small letters poo poo. Basic, nothing crazy, and I'll contribute $100.

Solice Kirsk posted:

I'm in for another $100. That should be more than enough to stamp that up. I vote for just plain black block letters.

titties posted:

I am totally bored and stupid enough to get a poo poo tattoo and hepatitis for the internet but tramp stamp is off the table.

I was thinking more the trad style scroll / banner around something like the sa grenade logo or the character Roast Beef from achewood or something. No klurfs but otherwise i'm pretty open to suggestions.

I would be willing to get it on my back shoulder, supple breast, a smaller one on my forearm, or a larger one on my upper arm covering the harley tatt I got when I was 18 and thought I would be a cool biker man.

E: no ponies or pickle rick or that baseball mascot. Regular rick is fine though

Goon has final say obviously, but anyone up for helping design this thing would be appreciated. Let me know if this should go to a different thread or something.

Used Cobalt blue at Uni many years ago, very vibrant but only used it in Guache or Acrylic, was certainly a colour I couldn't use in print without using a spot Pantone, I assume violet would be similar, I think Windsor & Newton was the brand

oh yeah, Cobalt Blue is indispensible, but not so sure whether Cobalt Violet would give me something dioxazine violet & ultramarine violet don't already. thanks tho

Is it a tattoo? Please tell me it's a tattoo.

Oh oh OH I'm calling it now, it will turn out your friend might not quite know what they want, but they will see what you've done and then decide they still don't know, but that's not it. They will tell you, in detail, about all the things they DON'T want it to be, and none of the things they do want.

Did a quick project for a friend of mine. Gonna make another one with Grey and White for another gift. Added a zipper on the back so you can unstuff it easily to mail!

Also its about 8ft long. Had to make the pattern again from scratch, so its a bit thinner than my last projects and gotta fiddle with how I attach the arms, but quite pleased. Its super cuddly <3

Gut feeling pricing question for you guys, ignoring notions of what's actually a fair price*. If you're wandering around a craft fair and a drawing catches your eye (say 6"x6" or 8"x10"), what's your on-a-whim price sweet spot? $20, $30?

* I say this since they're either super quick or byproducts of bigger pieces, like the stuff I've been posting in the daily thread lately

I'm a poor and a cheapass mofo and my impulse limit is 20-22 but would be pretty much a sure bet at 15 for a 6x6.

As someone who likes to buy art at shows/conventions/whatevs my range is $20-30 for an 8x10 if I'm buying directly from an artist

for whatever weird psychological reason, I'm much less inclined to spend that much through an online storefront type thing that is run by some third party, I know it doesn't make sense, don't @ me

I'm guilty of having bough some really smashing stuff from Society6. I know they get a cut, but I figure if the artist is selling their poo poo there, they know what they're getting into.

The framing and printing is really good quality.

It's possible that someone got your details at the fair you did and thought you'd be a good match for the event.

It's also possible that the event hasn't been able to drum up enough interest on its own so they have to reach out to the local artists - the possible fees and sales cuts lofi mentioned may be why they haven't got enough people. My company (my photographer friend and me) got asked to do a fair once, and it was definitely because they hadn't sold all of the spots in the "creators isle". I thought it sounded off at first, too (why the gently caress would anyone want us specifically, said my brain) but the fair was legit and they just wanted to not have empty, unsold spots.

Do ask about the location, how easy is it to get to, how much room you get for displays. If paranoid, confirm that the location exists, see if there's an office you can call to confirm that the event is happening at the aforementioned spot. Do they have a website or ads running?

And I love that big chunky blue friend I want to hold him forever.
