Yes, he beat the poo poo out of Samoa Joe because they had a future match scheduled for the title. Joe was murdering the CZW guys and after Danielson's attack was kayfabe injured and had to leave the match. We watched it at the Perro's Palace a few months ago, it was a well worked brutal match and is definitely worth checking out.

I watched a bunch of CZW from that time so I'll always think it hilarious that like the only thing they did for that angle was Kevin Steen begging Gabe to hire him and get him out of the cesspool that is CZW and that he'd bring his CZW title that he didn't want with him. Also that apparently Steen was just shooting and the people at CZW just gave him a title anyway.

Have we ever gotten Zandig's comments on why he didn't really do anything in CZW for the ROH/CZW feud? ROH did a bunch of cool angles and matches and I think CZW did a Samoa Joe feature match?

I like the Darewolf but he's also due for a horrific BASE jumping accident at least once a year, so ROH may as well get as much out of him as they can before it happens

I thought his FIP run was great, his back to back matches with aries and danielson, his feud with roderick was one of the things that made me think he was a surefire future ROH champion. Was Florida just that bad?

My take is he either had to keep winning or do what he said and lose until he won.
