A while back I mentioned my friends released an indie/emoish album that was pretty good. At the end of last year they added a full time bass player and released a dance-punk record straight out of DFA circa 2004 (one of them actually interned there a while ago). I went to the tape release last night and it ruled. Thought it might appeal to some of you:

It’s also on Spotify.

Just wanted to say I've been listening to this for a few days and really enjoying it, especially the first and last tracks. It's all grest though, definitely going to check out some of their other albums soon.

It's fine; can always respect a cover that actually does something new with a song

Companion news to that is that she's got an EP in the works for this year, which is also cool!

Love them, always fun to see live and their videos are fantastic.

Saw Ted Leo last night and his stage banter only gets better every time. Love when he does a solo tour complete with random covers and weird effects.

That's a spectacular video.

For folks who don't know, PUP did a crazy tour where they played 250 shows in one year, then the singer got a cyst on his vocal chords which was going to sideline the band for a year or two. He said "gently caress it", decided for natural therapies, and they made a second album through that. Now they're coasting into their third, all working on sheer determination. It's cool as hell.

I was gonna go last night but I was exhausted and didn’t feel like making the 1.5+ hour trip to BK. I think I’ve seen Ted upwards of 20 times though

edit: Rostam and Baio both put out some amazing solo work so I'm pretty excited about this new album.

He threw some new cool effects in The High Party that I hadn't heard before but was otherwise a standard Ted set so you didn't miss much of you're already seen him a few dozen times.

5 or 10 years ago, this would've been a loving incredible lineup, but I've kinda moved on from most of those bands by now. Some of them might still be fun to see now, but I feel like a lot of them are past their prime.

I didn't like the last Phoenix album but I guess it might be harsh to say they're past their prime. Same goes for MGMT. But Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Passion Pit, Grizzly Bear, The Faint, She Wants Revenge, Washed Out and Shiny Toy Guns all fall under that category for me.

I still enjoy listening to their music, but it's music they made 5-10 years ago if not even longer ago than that. If they're doing anything new, it hasn't excited me quite like their old stuff.

Beach House is still putting out really good poo poo though.

That line-up loving owns. My question is since it's only a one day festival, aren't a lot of those bands going to overlap? Like, I would see almost every act on there but have a feeling you'll have to make a lot of hard choices. I'm assuming the text color relates to what stage each band is playing on.

It's only a two stage venue\configuration. Tropicalia, which has twice as many bands ran just fine.

The 2nd and 3rd was done in alternating fashion so you didn't have to move. One set ended, the other next to it started up. Still, the place is just fine for a lineup for such considering how many EACH day.
