It's not on this forum, by favorite is when someone brings up how they wish they'd make another No Mercy style game, someone will inevitably chime in with how bad No Mercy looks compared to 2K19 or whatever.

It's like, do they honestly think they wouldn't update the graphics from a 20 year old game?

They shouldn't make a new No Mercy. Make a new Warzone. Select your wrestler from the wrestler cube imo. Listen to their 10 second 144p promo imo. Write down the 13 button string to do the Wacky Line imo. Throw a big CRT at AJ Styles imo.

A lot of what I wanted out of a game back then is precisely opposite of what I want in a game now. I remember being so enamored of the canned animations that were in smackdown because they connected like they were supposed to, rather than just having a small number of sells that applied to all moves, and now I realize how great it was to be able to hit the same clothesline or jumping kick to a guy from all angles rather than just from the correct angle for the animation. gently caress, I miss being able to drop a guillotine leg from the top to the back of a guys head.

They should make a wrestler battle royale. 100 wrestlers drop from the back of an airplane into an island and the last one standing by way of pinfall or submission wins

Wrestling gear like knee pads and crazy knockoff outfits of famous dudes that give you some of their moves. You get dropped looking like a Young Lion and are only able to dropkick, elbow, and Boston crab.

Why didn't they ever adapt Immortals or the other mobile games for consoles? Immortals was a halfway decent NetherRealm fighting game with the WWE license and would probably make a ton of money on microtransactions.

Yeah, I suppose if I had any programming know how at all I would balk at how much goddamn work it would be.

Edit: and I probably would aim at the supers one first because it's less of a niche product.

DIRECTIVE 236: Promote pro-social values
The greatest thing about the AKI games were the pick up and play controls and how quickly and effectively the mechanics of the game were communicated to the player, often through completely visual cues with no prompts. It's why you could just pick it up and have fun with 3 other people in multiplayer even if they weren't the biggest of wrestling fans.

These days, even though I play all the WWE 2k games and have for years, I still have to regularly consult the (now digital only) manual for all the contextual button combinations for dragging a guy and putting him face down on a table. Forget about finding anyone else willing to pick up a controller and learn that poo poo.

I don't think I have it installed any more, but a couple of years back I had Pro Wrestling X installed via Steam, and let the computer sim a four-way match. At one point a wrestler got busted open, and the animation glitched out so that blood kept spurting from his head for the remainder of the match in what I can only assume was true Mass Transit-style. Even at the end, when the victor had his hand raised, the glitched blood was still spurting like a fountain in the background. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at a video game glitch before or since.

Wasn't that entire soundtrack (all five songs or so) recycled from the first PS2 Smackdown vs. RAW as well? I remember thinking how nice it was to have actual songs playing in the menus after years of generic BGM, but by the time I heard the same Breaking Benjamin song for the tenth time the shine had kinda worn off. At least it had Bring tha Noize by Public Enemy and Anthrax, but even that gets old after a while.

When it comes to bad licensed music in WWE games, I think SD vs. RAW 2006 might be the winner on that front, with the soundtrack featuring bangers such as "HEET HAWMP, MAH FEET STAWMP" and "crush kill DESTROYDESTROYDESTROY". Megadeth's Symphony of Destruction was on there too, but at least on the PAL version it was some lovely remix instead of the original song.

I'd like to thank everyone who's shown up to watch my goofy video game wrestling show over the past several months. Both the regulars, like Maleketh, Maxwell Lord, Remusclaw, and DangerousPerp, and anyone who watches but doesn't chat, anyone who catches the VODs or watches on YouTube(if there are any of these people, I have no idea) and even those that checked it out for a little while then left.

Over the past couple months I've started to feel constrained by the video game theme I've chosen. So, at the end of this month, February 28th, will be my last show of this format. That being said, on that show I'm planning on doing the most ambitious thing I've done so far, and something I've been thinking about since I started this thing, but haven't been able to do on a technical level until recently.

I'm not burned out on doing stuff with Fire Pro or creating stuff for the (hopeful) enjoyment of others, quite the opposite. Seeing stuff other people have done with Fire Pro has inspired me to try to do more and better with it, but I feel like I can't do this while also being tied to the video game theme. In a few months(current target is June) I plan on starting another Fire Pro show featuring original characters. But, y'know, it'll still be weird and kinda funny. Possibly weirder. And I hope everyone who has given my goofy video game wrestling show a shot will also give my new, goofy, theme currently undetermined wrestling show a shot.

Latest real world mod for TEW16’s been released, just in time for the AEW launch. Haven’t given it a spin but afaik it’s been made from scratch with avoiding the balance issues of the old cpt_charisma database specifically in mind (though apparently there’s been a cockup on the Japan side of the mod that will be fixed within a week). An interesting place to start a game of challenging WWE, with KENTA free from his contract and WALTER on a PPA deal ripe for the poaching.

I’ve half a mind to start up my dumb rear end magical realist Let’s Play again
