The only reason Donny got away with it was because he attempted to be friendly towards Frank and let him know that he was just trying to pay back his grandmother for letting stay with her while trying to get back on his feet. Y'know, decent enough motivations. Seems in line with letting the minister live.

His characterization is all over the place I feel like I’m the only one who felt like that was pretty consistent with Frank as we’ve seen him in the show. The dude was a creep but it seemed like he just rented the space and was willing to turn a blind eye, which is really bad but not quite as bad as being a kid pornographer himself. Even then Frank beat the poo poo out of him and burned his place to the ground, and was ready to execute him if Amy (who he’s kind of seeing as his surrogate daughter by this point) didn’t talk him down. Then he mentions later that he’s been letting people live he shouldn’t have, and it’s clearly burning him up. Given his character development from one of the first times we saw him in DDS2, where he presumably beat a dude to death for trying to sell him child porn, barely resisting outright murdering somebody who’s child porn adjacent but only while being SUPER grumpy about it feels natural. Netflix Frank isn’t comics Frank or Judge Dredd or whatever

I thought this was because Disney starts their own stream service and wanted the shows (maybe with diff actors etc) in house.

Early cancellation for Jessica Jones might be a good sign if it kicks off the two year timer before Marvel can start using the characters again. Marvel might have pushed Netflix to make a decision asap so they can get cast and crew locked in for future development. Two years is a bit much for lead time but if the contract stipulates two years before they can air something with those characters that's a good amount of time for filming and development. I don't expect any further news until the Fox merger has gone through, though.

Marvel Netflix is too violent for the PG13 Disney+. But Disney will have a 60% share on Hulu once the merger goes through...

Disney will just do what they've always done, stick it under a different banner that doesn't have the Official Disney Logo on it. Pulp Fiction was distributed by Miramax, which was owned at the time by Disney. That said there's probably a number of stupid contract poo poo that prevents the current actors from appearing in subsequent shows, at least for a few years. And let's be honest, none of these shows were likely a huge ratings success. I don't think Disney/Marvel will jump through hoops for these shows.

It's unfortunate but it's not that bad. We got several seasons of what started out as an interesting take on Marvel. Shows that go on too long always end up disappointing anyways and it's not like Marvel Netflix was reliably good. I really hope Hulu doesn't try to prop these up as zombie shows with half the same cast, a slashed budget and a sea of endless legal restrictions imposed by Netflix. Just make something else with some different Marvel characters instead.
