Ross was the worst which also makes him the best. The episode where he moves into the new building and eats the cake for the janitor is some Larry David poo poo. The bunch of episodes where he has a mental breakdown and discovers Chandler and Monica are banging is probably the best of the show.

Ross was ruined as a character by having to bear the full weight of serious romantic storylines, where they have to end every one of them since they don't want to try to mesh a new character into the friend group on a permanent basis. The last season with the Rachel/Ross/Joey love triangle and Ross and Rachel having a baby came across as sad more than anything. But his one off dating misadventures and cringeworthy professor shenanigans were some of the funniest moments in the show. Like the one where he can't get his tight leather pants back on after going to the toilet so he calls Joey for what turns out to be bad advice.
